2 Vezinas and 2 SCF appearances

I would say he’s likely the second best goalie of the last decade only behind Vasy
a cup and a conn symthe would be necessary, lock not guaranteed

I dunno if it's automatic if Florida loses again. If they win though, it will tip the scales for him to be inducted.

He's got two years left under contract and will be 38 heading into the 26-27 season. If he plays til 40, he might get to 500 wins. 500 wins with 2 Vezinas, even with no Cup, might be enough.

If he wins another Vezina, he's in regardless of no Cup or <500 wins.

He should be in. Better career than Luongo who everyone considers a lock. In typical HF fashion, everyone went overboard claiming he was the worst contract ever and rather than admit they were wrong, just keep adjusting the goal posts.

did holtby magically vanish?
Actually, he kind of did.

He hasn’t played in the league in almost 3 seasons now and what was left of his career after the cup win was really nothing worth talking about or remembering.

Great goalie for about a 4-5 year span, but got old and broken down and declined way too early. His last particularly good season was the one before the cup win. He was good in the playoffs, but that was his first decline season and the only good season he had the rest of his career was his last season, where he only played in 24 games and only two after January, before ending up on IR the rest of the year and never playing again.

Bob has had his decline years, but he’s also held up considerably better than Holtby, who is still an almost an entire year younger than Bob.

Eh I wouldn’t say that unless you’re just award counting. Luongo had two years he could have won the Vezina as well, including one he was runner up in Hart voting, had more high end seasons (5 top 4 Vezina finishes), was more consistent and had the longer career. We’ve seen that longevity is pretty important for goalies. Bob has probably got that at this point after a rough start in Florida though.

The Panthers aren't winning "in spite" of Bobrovsky, but they're not being carried by Bobrovsky like Vasilevskiy carried Tampa.

in Tampa's 3 cup finals appearances with Vasilevskiy, he had a .927 (won the cup), .937 (won the cup) and .922 save% in the playoffs. Bobrovsky had a .915 last year and a .905 this year.

He absolutely carried them last year. That .915 includes the finals when Florida got rocked. Through three rounds he had a .935 and was clearly responsible for a bunch of their wins.

I dont think this moves the needle for me much but, yeah..How many goaltenders have 2 vezinas?
Hes currently 14th in wins, if he wins 28 games next year he is top 10. Career .915 save%.

He was a lock before making the finals.

I'm pretty sure OP thinks that the NHL only had Russian players. Also, lol has he had to break a sweat these playoffs? He had one good game this series and that was game 1 and one bad game where the Rangers actually challenged him and he came up short. Rest of the games he could have had a nap on the ice and we wouldn't even know the difference. From what I've seen in the Boston series it was the same case.

If we are measuring his entire career, for which entry into the HHOF is a requirement, none of the modern day goaltenders (Roy, Hasek, Belfour, Brodeur) in the HOF had the volatility of performance that Bobrovsky has had, over his career. His best stat years were in Columbus, where he choked in the playoffs, after being the best/(one of) goalie in the NHL. Then his early Florida years had some wondering if he was toast. His numbers, even on a very, very good Florida team are just above middle of the pack. Plus below is his career playoff stats, not impressive at ALL!
so some could say he is a system goalie, whose performance in FLA got better as the team did.
I'm not hacking on him, i just don't think his career has been consistent enough to warrant the HHOF.
I certainly don't expect him to win the Conn Smythe, this year. He's not the reason they're winning.
FLA is a brute squad, that wears teams down with 60min efforts of punishment.
Very well constructed team, that should reinforce how teams should be built for the playoffs.
(and I'm a Boston fan)

Vas and Helly are the 2 best goalies of the last decade(2014-2024). One due to a great dynasty, one due to consistently carrying his team.

So now a couple of finals appearances is what brings him over the top? How about winning a cup?

Bobrovsky had a strong career but these last few seasons are heavily system driven.
How is Florida's D system able to win so much--because it is pretty much a consensus among HF posters that:
Montour is terrible in his own zone
Ekblad is one of the most overrated D in the league
OEL hasn't been any good since 2018.
Forsling is good--but not anywhere near Fox

So the last few years Bob is succeeding in front of system with one of the worst D in the league????

Bob is not a hall of fame lock.

However - his case is immensly stronger today then it was 2 years ago. For a while, I thought his contract might legitimately be seen as the worst in NHL history. He's turned it around big time, very solid this season and back to back playoffs.

Is he a lock? No
Does he have a pretty good chance to make the HHOF? Yes, absolutely.
