What did the line have to do with the winning goal?
I think that was what my post was about -
You want to talk about the weather while we're at it?

Totally agree, the goal had nothing to do with the the forwards but one mistake by the best goalie in the league at the wrong time. Shit happens over a NHL season and this was one of those time that the shit went against the Jets and Helly. Forget this lost and move on to the Canucks.

The Jets are not a top team, they are closer to Edmonton/Vancouvers of the world than they are to the top teams. Which is why these last minute losses might end up proving costly. The point lost in this game and the one in the Edmonton game could be the 2 points that keep us out of the playoffs.

I wouldn't say that lol
Winnipeg is clearly ahead of Van of Edmonton
They're also a lot closer to being a complete team than the other two

Winnipeg is 2 to 4 imo right now
But that's not saying a whole lot in the Canadian division

They'll move one of the best shooters in the league for a 2c. What are they willing to do for a legit top pair defenseman

No question about it ... it was a tough loss too take but you guys need to relax.
Seriously as the game was winding down and the Jets buzzing around the Sens net not being able to score ... you knew that Ottawa was going to catch a break. Hellebuyck was 7-0 career against the Sens ... Jets playing against a AHL goalie ... its one of those games.

Connor-Scheifele-Wheeler looked good once they were united. Maurice said that Wheeler "looked right" maybe referencing his supposed injury? I don't mind keeping them together if they can do what they did at the end. Copp-PLD-Ehlers should be a good line and a nice way to ease PLD onto the Jets with two wingers who can do the heavy lifting.

You might be responding to the wrong person but I'm not putting this loss on Maurice, just saying in general that he's long overdue to leave
He's the second-longest tenured coach in the league, behind some guy who won the Stanley Cup.
There's numerous problems with Maurice in general, such as overreliance on Scheif/Wheels, underplaying Ehlers, arguably forcing Laine out, etc.
A fresh face could definitely add a spark to the team.

So your issue is Maurice is playing the 2 best players on the team over the last 5 years (Scheifele and Wheeler) more then his current best player (Ehlers) on the team. I get that but our current coach knows his players better then anyone else and maybe he has seen that Ehlers is at his best with his minutes are at around 18 minutes. Ehlers game is his playmaking at full speed but if he is playing a lot of minutes maybe he will not be as effective as he tires out?

Some players need a lot of minutes to play at their best and some need less to be just as good,

All this said, I agree that Maurice need to get this team to win this season or a change is needed. Give him the rest of the season to see what the Jets can do under his guidance. If they can't win the cup or at lease make it to the SC final a change is needed.

What could csw have done on that specific play differently? It’s getting to be rote around here anything wrong blame csw.
00:20 left, in your own end, you stick to your guy like glue. Taught in peewee. Wheeler in no man's land, beside absolutely nobody. 5x5 players with worst +/- on the ice. Oh well.

So why does he always appear to be struggling with one on one coverage, especially along the walls, behind or in front of the net?

Anyway, looks like the numbers tell a different story - I'll look harder for what the numbers see and I don't.

And stop replying to my posts with Stat's - you know I don't like it when you do that ;):DD

Well he’s not exactly a big guy and i think he’s trying to play bigger then he is at times. I don’t think he always has to go into the corner looking to hit someone.

He mishandled it and it went to the no play zone so if he touched it it’s a penalty. He shouldn’t have misplayed it or just stay in crease and let D pick it up and wheel it.
The no play zone today worked exactly as the NHL hoped it would when they put the rule in. We really should just go back to 1962 when a goalie never left the crease.

Helle is the worst goalie in the NHL when it comes to handling the puck. With this team there is something just wrong they can't play entire 60 minutes, and the coaching is really suspect. I am beginning to wonder if Maurice is our downfall as a coach. Need a coach to really get after these guys.

Man Matthew’s is so f***ing good imagine if we got just that tiny bit luckier to get him instead of Laine.

Imagine there was a time where would even consider that Laine was anyway close to Matthews. The first couple of season there was some doubt, no doubt the last 2 seasons.

It’s a disappointing loss.
Ottawa earned the win.
This team looks like it’s sleepwalking half the time.
There’s been flashes of good play infrequently.
Seems like we lack identity and chemistry.
Not sure what to think of this team but shades of Noel ...2 steps forward and 1.5 steps back.

Yeh that line switch seemed to revive Connor and Wheeler a bit. Although going from Stastny to Scheif is a big jump. Personally I think Scheif is playing his best hockey this year. Opposing players are never safe with the puck with him around.

Or we really should let goalies play the puck anywhere. It’s a skill I worked on a ton as a goalie, let them showcase their skill and help their team if they can do it.

Honestly at what point does Maurice stop putting CSW out there in a tie game with under a minute left. Ppl going on about this game.. but these reoccurring problems aren't new. It's time for a new voice behind the bench. I like Paul...I've met him.. really nice to me and my daughter but... It looks like the same problems are still there from 2019, they look exactly the same but that D was better. But even with Buff and Trouba the same problems happened. The effort level just doesn't look like Its there most games... Bottom line... You can't fire all the players but after 7 seasons it's prob time to send Paul Maurice upstairs.

yea he is a beast. Had we won the lottery we would have had two good seasons to take a crack at the cup and we would still be dam good.
