Confirmed with Link: Sens trade 9oa for Eklund and prospects

Guess Kyrou wasn't going to budge on waiving while McTavish and Robertson were too rich to obtain. Sharks drafting Misa & Dickenson & Smith & Celebrini is such a great attempt at drafting and now with two more top 10 picks, I would've rather went through that set up but.
Such a great drafting team kinda surprised they passed on the Nordberg eliasson Roger and squad

Sharks have gotten so damn lucky. Winning the 1OA and having Celebrini turn out the way he has. Then winning the 2OA this draft. Damn.

And they got the third overall pick that we used to take Stutzle in 2020.

But yeah watching Celebrini at the Olympics and he was a beast. Maybe my memory was wrong but I thought the knock was "no top end talent" but man he is noticeably the best player on the ice so many shifts.

I definitely did not expect this and I don't hate it, former 7th OA pick just a few years removed from his draft year, back to back 50+ point seasons, so far seems more of a playmaker than a goal scorer.

The fact that we got extra pieces who are valuable in their own right makes me optimistic about this.

A lot of Sharks fans aren't happy with the trade, so that's another thing I guess lol

I'm as patriotic as they come and had absolutely zero problem with it, and felt it was more than earned and deserved. I don't think it was nearly as much of a factor as you're making it out to be. If anything, it was likely used as an excuse to help him justify his decision

I don't think we'll ever know for certain, but I hope your last sentence isn't the case, that's just weak if it is.

Time to look past this chapter now. On a side note, I'm not sure how I feel about this #9 trade yet...

Looks like panic assessing just to forget about trading Brady. This isn't a knock on Eklund. This just isn't the exact 70 plus point player we're getting back.

9OA in this draft doesn't get you a 70 point player.

Not to mention the fact that none of the available 70 point players will come here.

Not at all who I was hoping we would be targeting with the pick. We are a much softer team without Tkachuk, and this definitely doesn't help that.

I'll give him a shot though, and the Finnish kid seems like a solid prospect.

Eh some are angry some are ecstatic. Same as us I think.

Probably means it was fair.

Not what I was expecting but we got good value for 9th overall.

So far, disappointed in getting Eklund instead of package for legit established star. Feels like he's more a winger for Cozens than Stutzle.

We got to move Batherson now, can't have both those guys in the top 6.

Cost controlled and leaves room for another bigger move or two. The two prospects look decent and we still have 2x1st and a 2nd to trade for upgrades.

Downside is I doubt we move Zetterlund now.

Yeah you're right, f***. I'm just not in the mood for as rebuild and wish some of our guys can pan out like a Kyrou or Thomas or a Barzal.

I don't know how it's going to mesh but Stutzle was at his best playing a dogged two way game and if Eklund is the two way guy people seem to be claiming he is... as long as he has some offensive game sense and a decent shot it could work out well for us where they feed off each other and outwork, outskate the opposing team.

A lot of ifs but could work out well.
