Confirmed with Link: Sens trade 9oa for Eklund and prospects

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Guess Kyrou wasn't going to budge on waiving while McTavish and Robertson were too rich to obtain. Sharks drafting Misa & Dickenson & Smith & Celebrini is such a great attempt at drafting and now with two more top 10 picks, I would've rather went through that set up but.

Again, as someone who watches a lot of western conference hockey, this is disgusting and reeks of desperation (like the Bobby Ryan trade).

Eklund is a fine player (skilled, small complementary playmaker), but he's NOT worth the 9th overall pick in this draft.

Not even close.

It was a genuine question, no trolling intended here, I just wanted to confirm before responding.

I still don't understand how you come to that conclusion. I think the response by our fans to boo the anthem was bullshit. I'm saying that as a proud Canadian and as a veteran that's put my life on the line for this country multiple times. I know I have national pride, yet I don't think booing the anthem at a sporting event or online backlash to an American athlete is the way to go here if you disagree with things in the south.

We'll never know how much of an impact this all had on Brady's decision to leave, but I think it was a big part.
I'm as patriotic as they come and had absolutely zero problem with it, and felt it was more than earned and deserved. I don't think it was nearly as much of a factor as you're making it out to be. If anything, it was likely used as an excuse to help him justify his decision

I'm OK with this. Eklund is a good player and young. And both prospects are decent.

I wanted to keep 9th OA but whatever. I'm not thrilled but I can live with this return.

Sharks have gotten so damn lucky. Winning the 1OA and having Celebrini turn out the way he has. Then winning the 2OA this draft. Damn.

a couple quick notes:

*Zetterlund is his best friend in hockey. He’s going to be bummed to leave the young guys but stoked out rejoining Zetts
*Ek is a very, very good two-way forward. He played on our shutdown line with Wennberg. How does a good two-way shutdown forward get -28 or whatever? Well our shutdown pair was Sam Dickinson and Vincent Desharnis, and our goalies are mediocre
*He’s slippery, hard to hit, and does this circle around the net and pass it from where he came. Creates a lot of nice opportunities
*Good puck carrying, good playmaking, and vision
*Shot isn’t good, however, he had a wrist injury (playing for Sweden), and I’m optimistic he’ll improve that with health.
*Plays some pk minutes and he’s a high effort guy
*Haltunnen is 6’3 and has a cannon- probably one of the hardest shots outside the NHL- look up his playoff performances with the London Knights. He’s been developing a bit of a ‘b game’ in the AHL. Bit gritty, bit dirty. He’s slow. If he fixes that or improves the b game he could be a 20 goal third liner. I had him as trade bait, because I don’t believe he gets there, but it’s too soon to say.
-In drafting Svoboda, I think Grier was hoping for an Ostapchuk type. Don’t think he gets there, but he scores a lot of key goals internationally and in college from the fourth line. Good size. Maybe, but I don’t think he makes it.
