It's so irritating!

I slept through the first hobbit movie and have refused to watch any more. The money grab makes me not want to watch movies anymore.

Although just started watching the new series Pitch. And I'm liking it. It's a bit girly but because it's baseball themed and well filmed the bf likes it too (so much better than lost which he's making me watch).

Also congrats on the new job Sask! Good call on building savings. It is nice to think you'll have money for your future!
This is where you lost me. (Pun intended.) I own a shirt with the numbers. My laptop's password for four years was the numbers. I learned Wonderwall on guitar not because it's every beginner's song... but because Charlie played it that one time in the rain while busking.

I'm not a big fan of these supernatural shows. So lost isn't all that appealing to me. It reminds me a lot of Walking Dead. One episode every 5 that's good, but it's not the show I want to binge watch. I can watch an episode and it's fine, but I never want to watch 2. I've watched the first season and I'm already over it.

It's my bfs favourite show, so I sit through it. But I'm a girly show watcher or a comedy show watcher. I deal with deep **** all day at work I don't want to come home and watch something deep or dark.

Why consider the long term when all the shareholders care about is this quarter? That's really the root of the problem, and seen any time you work for a company that goes public... See that culture change darn quick

Totally fair – lately I've been the same way, too. Can't deal with 'heavy' shows. It's why I never got into TWD or The 100 or anything like that. Even hour-long shows are sometimes too much. Takes a truly exceptional show to draw in my attention for such long timespans. I just count myself lucky to have watched Lost while I still had the attention span.

Liking Westworld on HBO, Bad Robot is involved for those that liked Lost. I like the similarities in that there are a lot of questions to be answered.

Video games is a good example of how damaging this kind of attitude is.

Big budget projects have their pitfalls baked-in by execs who seldom seem to consider the longer term.

That's one thing that worries me about WoW. That game has gotten so big, it feels like it has basically squelched the entire fantasy mmorpg market. The only way to supplant WoW would be to bring in a came with more content....which is virtually impossible (unless you want to spend a good 15 years in development).

Speaking of WoW, I just finally saw the movie last night.

Visually? Very well done.

Story? It felt like they tried to cram a decade of storyline into a 2hr movie. It was like watching a blizzard-backwards version of The Hobbit, where instead of stretching one movie's plot out into three separate movies, they squished a trilogy's worth of plot into one awkward and rushed film.

I haven't seen the movie, but from what I heard, it's awful. Blizzard is great at games....movies, not so much.

Such a shame too, the story and lore in Warcraft is (was? I hear they retconned a ton of stuff and I haven't played anything since Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne) very cool.

I watched WoW morning of my wedding.
It ranks near the top of my list for worst movie of all time.

As you said, visually it was pretty. But otherwise felt like a cheap fan made movie. Hell I remember a scene where the warg riders were going somewhere and they used a horse gallop sound effect

That is kind of the issue with huge 20 episode seasons. At least half are going to be filler.

I thought lost was the best show of its day the first couple of seasons, but after that it became clear that they didn't plan for longterm success, and were just making stuff up as they went along.

Yeah that's very true.

I just don't have the patience to watch those filler episodes. I'd much rather watch a season that's 10 episodes but all good. Like I enjoyed Broadchurch. But the season was relatively short.

With shows like Lost and Walking Dead, it feels like sometimes it's more about the amount of episodes they can make rather than making episodes good. Yes, there are some good episodes but on the whole I'm not excited to watch.

But again I'm more of a "feel good" show watcher. So if it's a deep one I'll not often be in the mood to watch. Plus I cannot sit still. Generally I need to do something while I'm watching TV.

I tried learning to Crochet instead of using my phone so much. But that was a bust. Ppl say knitting is better. So maybe I'll try that. I'm going to become an old lady soon enough!

For those of us who speak French (a few English lyrics though!).

Probably my favourite album of all time. I'm still pissed, after 15 years, that it's a French (from France) band that made it .

I mostly know their early albums: "Veuillez rendre l'ame..." and "Tostaky", both amazing. Did you know they played in Ottawa in the late 90s, at Babylon's?

I have a Nexus 5 but the battery doesn't seem to last very long if the screen is on.

This is likely a battery problem right? I tried uninstalling Apps, screen brightness at lowest setting.

Anyone know of a place where you can bring your phone and they'll replace the battery?

It's probably cheaper to buy a new phone than it is to get the battery replaced in your old phone.

They played at Barrymore's in the summer of 2003 the week that I bought the album

And I missed it by a day

That was the summer the singer got in trouble

Still bitter about that

I don't think that the movie was terrible, like was previously said they just tried to cram way too much into it. That is what directly led to the movies biggest problem, and that comes down to pacing and editing.

It felt like it should have been a 3-4 hour epic movie and was cut down to 2 for faster theatrical turn around. Not saying they should have had a 4 hour movie, but it feels like they would have shot enough to do it.

Great band, too bad their frontman ended up being such a POS
