What BMI is that?

On another note, someone should make a spotify/Netflix like service for video games.
Music: 2-5 minutes long
Movies: 1.5-3.5 hours long

Video Games: 4++ hours long usually 50+

It's much harder to make a good economic system around what is essentially "renting" it.

5'6
@ 145 is 23.4
@ 150 is 24.2
@ 155 is 25.0, starts to be overweight

I don't see how I could be over weight when i have a small frame and can wear some shirt sizes of small. Large sized shirts are massive on me.

Yeah. You were just too light before :)
I'm 5'7ish and can push 170.
165 is probably my maintenance weight now.

If I were to be totally strict about diet and training, I believe it's actually possible to hit 180+ and still look 'cut'. I'd also be built like a tank at that weight too but yeah.

Too hard and too expensive to push that though. Happy where I am.

Also bmi only works if you are of average height, activity level and genetics. Otherwise it's a big crock.

There's actually been a few attempts at it. Part of the problem is the network requirements to stream a AAA game with no noticeable lag is difficult

Totally agree! I'm no image of perfect fitness or anything (although 25lbs down since Christmas... woo) but I used to be in morbidly obese BMI ranges and at my "ideal" weight I'm still in the obese or close to it range.

But just gotta be happy with who you are. I'll happily be a bit out of shape because I'm not willing to give up eating crappy food once in a while. Plus my work schedule screws up my body. I can't fight the 2 am chip cravings... I just can't!

Two best ways to beat cravings:

Don't buy those foods so they aren't around when you want them(Or buy smaller bags) or change the craving into a healther food. Chips -> nuts

6'3" here.

This is very true. I remember when I was cycling 40km/day, lifting "weights" for a living (aka: working in a warehouse), with barely an ounce of fat on me, and by BMI standards I was halfway between "overweight" and "obese".

I haven't weighed under 220lbs since I was in Grade 10. BUT BMI said that even when I was in peak physical shape by anyone's standard, I was still overweight.

Bad chart is bad.

I'm actually pretty good at not buying things... until I throw a party and have a surplus of chips, pop, beer and ice cream. Then it's game over! Plus I enjoy them... and life is meant to enjoy sometimes.

Typically veggies and hummus is my "crunchy snack" replacement.

Back on a December morning I weighed myself, while naked, on an empty stomach right after #2ing. I weighed 139 lbs.

Tonight after a day of moderate eating and a decent amount of water I weight myself fully clothed. I weighed 155 lbs.

I've been doing pushups and pullups consistently during the months. No weight lifting. Been biking almost daily for 30mins for the last 2 weeks. Not very active in general, though.

I don't think I've been over eating. Been getting between 110-130 grams of protein each day. 1600-2200 calories each day. I've upped my water intake in the last month.

I've noticed my chest and upper arms have lost fat in the last 7 months. Least fatty they have been since I was a lot younger.

Im not sure what to think of this.

Muscle weighs more than fat, so it means you've been putting on muscle. Plus I'd say it's no stretch to be five pounds heavier at the end of a given day than in the morning of a different day depending on different factors. Heck, I weigh myself every day now and yesterday I was 2.1 kg more than the day before, with both weighings in the morning just after getting up.

I have a rental house that I am in the midst of advertising... I would prefer a tenant for the full year, and have a few showings lined up this weekend.

... but just got contacted by a RedBlack player who is interested in the place, but only until December when the season ends...

Should logic trump passion? Should I just rent it to him on the off chance we become besties and I get to hang out with the team, leading to some kind of mid-30s "Rudy" situation ? :sarcasm:

(editor's note: I've never played a down of organized football... minor detail, right? Right!)

Do those showings, maybe someone better will come along.

Economically, you want dat full year tenant.

But if everyone else is sketchy, go for it.

You can always use the fact you can complain to the team / media if he messes up your rental to keep him in line. :)

Dude, I know having a REDBLACK as a tenant would be sweet, but finding a tenant for a property in January, in Ottawa, in the thick of winter, is the worst idea of all time. Probably the single slowest time of the year for real estate. You run a very significant risk of having it sit empty until the spring/ summer.

If it's the only offer, take it, but it should be a last-resort option.

All jokes aside, already responded with a "I'm showing it to prospective tenants interested in a full year lease, but I'll let you know if that falls through. Go RedBlacks."

As cool as it would be, realistically I never really get to know my tenants... so this wouldn't be any different. Just a neat start to the day and thought I'd share with you all in this, my favourite spot on HF.

And is one of the best times to be apartment hunting for a to-be tenant.

I got an amazing deal on a Lake Ontario waterfront, downtown apartment in Kingston, where they dropped rent twice to try and fill the unit, as the company had 4 units vacant, since we were looking for the apartment in February and the market was dead.

I would be likely be paying over $200/m more, if we looked just 2 months later in April :)

OMG! I'm 5'6" and also between 165 and 170!!!! Hehe ;)

Agreed, getting up to 180-185 would put me on the wing of a city rugby squad.

BMI is such a funny thing, as you guys have mentioned, when I look at an online calculator it warns me that I'm grossly overweight/obese!

Some calculators have added a 'fit' modifier, but it's something it's not really worth checking unless you fall into averages, and even then, a check next time you visit the doctor or gym is far more accurate obviously.

Benny, 139 is pretty small even for 5'6". If you've been working out regularly doing pull ups and push ups, that will account for the added 10-15 pounds. Feel good, feel like you look good = confidence and health, that's all that matters.

This, food and water intake throughout the day will add a few pounds no doubt.

EDIT: I use these along my regular bootcamps and such:

http://www.50pullups.com/50-pullups-programme/16-20-pullups

http://hundredpushups.com/week4.html

Do the tests and place yourself in each program. I do both at the same time with 120 second breaks between sets. Stay at the same day until you can do it to completion then move on. M/W/F mornings with weekends off. Pullups and pushups work the entire upper body :)

Wow, those are pretty neat! I'm already at level 6 of the 100 pushups given that I've been doing pushups for years now, but I like the program and will use it for a few weeks to see if I can improve.

I've also started doing pullups at a nearby park where they have some workout bars, and will use that 50 pullups program to get going for sure.

Thanks for the links!

Pullups are probably the most underrated exercise. Anyone who does them is legit. I know guys who can deadlift 2x their body weight and can't do a single pullup.

Mix up your grips on pullups / chin ups to get a really nice set of traps and lats. Until like a year ago, I had no idea how much girls (and guys who look at guys) like nice backs and forearms... even more than pecs and abs.

Guess which exercise works your back and forearms like a boss: Pullups / chin ups.

Start trying to do weighted pullups. You don't need anything special, you can even just use a milk jug and put some sort of loop you can hook your feet through as a weight.

And like everyone is saying, you're probably fine with your weight. Just keep pushing yourself and eventually you'll get to a point where you'll look at yourself in the mirror and not be able to stop.

I love flexing.

No problem, and like Dave was saying, I usually do pull ups first, then chin ups, then pull ups... At the park you can do two pull ups, two chin ups, and a wide grip chin up as well.

As for the push ups, I started at a lower level because I do both programs at the same time, one set up chin ups followed by the set of push ups, then the rest time. Makes for quite the burn by the end!

I like it because it gives goals and keeps you on track. I have gone through these to the end before (different chin up program) and you end up doing like 80 chin ups and 260 push ups in 15 or so minutes!

This chin up program is insane, they have you well over 100 by the end of it!

Yeah, big muscle guys have a hard time lifting their arms, let alone their whole bodies.... Got a bit of a chuckle after the first Tough Mudder we did, watching how much the big guys suffered pulling themselves up things, let alone running...

All about the functional movement strength baby!

I haven't been able to do a pull up since like Grade 10, right before my huge growth spurt. I'm 6'3" now, wouldn't think of ever doing a pull up. I especially can't even think of using those doorframe bars, that's a trip to the hospital waiting to happen combined with some serious home reno repair costs.

The taller you are, the harder it is to really master it.

Work = force x distance. Tall guys have advantages in other areas, but stuff like pull ups ain't one of them.
