I don't hate the big bang theory, to me its a slight step up from most sitcoms these days. Two and a Half men . . . Two Poor Girls . . . whenever i casually see one of those shows my eyes start to bleed.

I do despise laugh tracks. I don't need to be told when to laugh, it seems to be a way to make up for mediocre jokes or cliches. THats why i love shows like Louie. No traditional act structure, no laugh track, no rhyme or reason or pattern to the format of the episodes. Just Louis CK experimenting.

I have a soft spot for Archer too

My favorite guilty pleasure right now is The Goldbergs. As a child of the 80s, it TOTALLY captures what it was like to grow up then. The fact that the main character's room is covered in Transformers, He-Man and Thundercats toys just makes me all goopy inside.

Well, for television that is currently still on...Silicon Valley gets my vote.

**** TV

I have better things to do than watch a TV show

Like play The Witcher 3

Let me know how if anyone tops Seinfeld or Twin Peaks, until then I don't care and no, Breaking Bad was lame, it doesn't count

Why is it seemingly a point of pride to downplay something people enjoy?

LOL at the guy who claims videogames are somehow better than television.

Videogames suck now. The industry peaked with Super Nintendo and it's been all downhill since. Once upon a time you actually had to do stuff in videogames, now it's all aimless walking like you're heading to Mordor to destroy a ring.

I still play videogames but honestly, no game has blown me away in nearly a decade. I just play because it's a time-waster.

I don't look down on anyone who enjoys TV

I just wanted to say how I feel, I'm mature and secure enough to not have to bring anyone down who enjoys things I don't. I do get peeved off at people who only talk about TV shows though so I guess there was a bit of ranting there, but not aimed at anyone on here.

Sorry if it came across the wrong way, I guess I could have chosen my words more carefully. Breaking Bad wasn't lame as much as it was "typical TV story-telling" which I've figured out and do not find compelling at all; power to those who do, enjoying things is awesome.

Also gaming has never been better and I've been gaming continuously for a long time (Since the late 80's): big budget games are mostly forgettable these days but if you want to spend a bit of time looking for quality games you will find heaps and a lot of them will be cheap. It's all about PC though and the great thing is that most great games on PC do not require powerful computers: the greatest games are usually independently made and don't require much to run. Some do though, this will always be true.

I play video games AND watch television. I'm the ultimate time waster.

Oh yeah! Me too. Which is why I think anyone can't "rank" forms of entertainment.

Mind you, my buddy got a ROM-cartridge that has every Super Nintendo game on it. We busted his old console out and a Super Tap and, instead of hitting up the bar we were supposed to go to, ended up playing 9 straight hours of Super NES.

TURTLES IN TIME!!! Super Bomberman!!! Final Fight 2!!!

Those were games man...those were games.

and you post on HF boards. :help:

Very true but I don't think I've logged into hf boards from a PC in a long time. I'm a mobile man in the go in this crazy digital world. I actually love the outdoors though too I go on pretty good bike rides on weekends and I really got into kayaking last year.

I'm jealous of getting to play turtles in time. I have my old systems but I need to hook them up. I'll need to start up a tecmo super bowl season come the fall.

Those games were great because we were 10 years old, go back to them now and you will be bored (especially the side-scroller beat them ups)

In terms of gameplay today's good/worthwhile games are lightyears better than them: Super Meat Boy, Bastion, Mark of the Ninja, To the Moon, Braids, Vladis Story and the list goes on and on; those are all games that are around 10-15 dollars that are excellent

Most fun I ever had was about 10 years ago, my buddy set up a massive Tecmo league with guys representing every team. Every Sunday in the summer, there would be a set schedule of who plays who that went from 12-5 and he kept stats, standings, etc.

I literally played them last weekend. They still hold up.

The console games today are boring in comparison. Walk around and let the graphics do the work.

It's funny how the more popular titles are outright stealing elements of the old school platform games. People are getting tired of just walking around environments. I blame Zelda, Ocarina of Time for that craze.

Honestly, I miss the simplified controls in older sports games.
Realism gets in the way of fun in most cases with all the new sports games.

Like watching hockey and playing video games? You're wasting time either way, no need to get smug about it. Or are you just the kind of person that thinks everything you don't personally like sucks?

High end television is arguably better than high end movies these days anyway, or at least on par as far as dramas go. Shows like Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Better call Saul, Vikings, The Wire, Sopranos, Newsroom, Boardwalk Empire, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards . . . the earlier seasons of Homeland . . . . even Daredevil. There is soo much incredibly well written drama out there.

I agree. I don't think there is any bad medium. At the same time, I don't think any medium is good in of itself.

I know lots of people who only watch TV and never play games, watch movies, read, watch anime or read comics, and others who only do one of the ones I just listed.

Enjoy whatever you want. I personally am more theme based than medium based, so I'll indulge in a bit of everything as long as it's interesting and well done!

Hmm.

What do you do when you are arguing with someone that reads over your arguments, takes things out of proportions to fit their own argument, puts words in your mouth, swears, and contradicts themselves but cannot see it?

Just be the bigger person and give up arguing :)
