we beat the 2012 thing, we can beat anything

although being hit by something from space is at least real

What is funny is that conspiracy theorists are saying that the government knows about it, but is keeping it a secret just to avoid mass panic.

Jealous.

Are chia seeds good? Ive looked at them but never actually bought them.

Im not super sure if the chia seeds are specifically good, but the whole blend tasted great. I'm definitely gonna up the chia and hemp portions next time in exchange for some of the oats.

The chia definitely made it a lot more gooey (in a good way!)

So i just found out there is this new doomsday prediction that says that an asteroid will hit earth on September 24 2015.

... appears to have originated with a self proclaimed “prophet,†Rev. Efrain Rodriguez, who claimed he sent a letter to NASA on Nov. 12, 2010, titled “Letter to the Space Agency… meteor heading toward Puerto Rico.â€

In the letter, he claimed he had received a message from God that an asteroid that would “soon be seen in the alarm systems of NASA†was approaching...

... I'm not too concerned about it.

Couldn't God just dm NASA? Remove the middle man? Also, god doesn't believe in science so how did he calculate the asteroids path down to Puerto Rico?

So my mom, sister, and I all have passports expiring in June 2016. Since most places don't allow you in with a passport with less than 6 months left we decided to get ahead and renew early.

My mom went to the passport office earlier today, and had no problems. My sister and I went a little later, and we got refused (we both had the same guy, but different than my mom). He said that it is a policy that they don't renew more than a year out without a reason. I said one of the jobs I have applied for consists of travel to Europe, but he said that wasn't a good enough reason. When my mom went she said that she needed a new passport number to give for her European river cruise next year, but apparently the guy never even asked why she was renewing 13 months ahead. How can there be such inconsistencies?

Inconsistencies are rampant in any large business - government or commercial. In my experience companies address their revenue-makers above all else. You would think that good customer service leads to a large portion of revenue but I've yet to see a company make this a priority. There are companies with excellent customer service who have their **** together, but not many of them.

I'm not sure what the procedures are for renewing a passport but I do as much as I can online, especially governmental services. I just googled the US version and it does allow you to print the form online but it appears you still must mail the application. I can understand that can lead to uncertainties (delivery confirmation, tracking the status of the application, etc) but I would feel safer with the processing because it will go to a back office in which employees have unpressured time to consult with trainers and management.

I think you could also go down at a later date / time and get a different rep. If anything just politely ask to speak to a supervisor. At the company where I work the only way you can get anything done is by escalating.

Chia are supposed to be really good for health. I'm a fibre freak so I'm constantly looking for sources to keep me regular and I love adding the seeds to drinks. They add very little flavour so they're only visually noticeable and I can affirm they get the job done. You can google "chia seeds" and find plenty of credible articles supporting the benefits of chia seeds.

Also, god doesn't believe in science

What is this even supposed to mean? Science is a way of attempting to calculate phenomena as they occur on this earth. Indulging in the assumption of an anthropomorphic creator, science is just a (piss-poor) way of describing what such a being would have created.

Science is awesome I love science. I am also not religious but man now that science is cool now, the snobbery of people knows no bounds. If you read comments on that I ****ing love science website, good grief. A lot of those people aren't even that smart either they're just following the trends that science is cool now.

It's almost up there with how annoying atheists can be, they're just as bad as pushy religious people now.

In summary, so many people suck no matter what the context is. I'm way too Hobbesian I think.

To be fair, you could have covered a lot of bases with just saying "conservatives" or "republicans".

They seem to be the largest enemy of science these days. I know plenty of religious people who work in the sciences.

But that wouldn't have covered enough bases.

I also hate that show. I also hate when people tell me to watch it because they know I would like it. I have watched it and I don't like it.

If I can say the punchline before the actor does it's not a show for me. It's classic Chuck Lorre humor with a geek twist, and I hate Chuck Lorre humor.

On the other hand I've been doing Curb Your Enthusiasm marathons and started the series from the very beginning again although I've seen every episode a billion times. It never gets old. Larry David is king.

I've never actually watched Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Chuck Lorre humour is good while you're cooking dinner. Punchline per commercial break, and I don't mind toilet humour.

I remember being in highschool in the 90s I had to hide the full extend of my geekness. I used to pick on the kids that played magic cards in the cafeteria but I played them myself on the weekends :P Not trying to glorify it, i was an ******* back then, its just interesting how things have changed.

It's nice that geekdom is trendy right now, but I gotta wonder if/when the whole trend is going to fade again.

I don't hate the big bang theory, to me its a slight step up from most sitcoms these days. Two and a Half men . . . Two Poor Girls . . . whenever i casually see one of those shows my eyes start to bleed.

I do despise laugh tracks. I don't need to be told when to laugh, it seems to be a way to make up for mediocre jokes or cliches. THats why i love shows like Louie. No traditional act structure, no laugh track, no rhyme or reason or pattern to the format of the episodes. Just Louis CK experimenting.

I have a soft spot for Archer too

It seems to me that half the jokes in that show are just "haha they are socially awkward"

Also, I just noticed a new smily

I was a total jock-nerd. In that I was "athletically-gifted" enough to play on most of the high school sports teams but I was also drawing and reading comic books all the time.

So I was a tweener. Hung out with the jocks and the nerds and never the two had met.
