Doesn't matter how difficult it is. It's still not something to be celebrated.

Replace the word obese with the words heroin addict, and you'll see the how stupid the fat acceptance movement's arguments are.

Being fat and being addicted to heroin are not even remotely close to the same thing.

As a sort-of-fat dude, I completely agree with this.

If my leg wasn't in such a bad way right now, I'd be doing a lot more exercising than I am right now... as it is, I'm just trying to eat right and keep my cardio up.

Being fat sucks. I can't imagine why on earth anyone would ever be proud of that fact.

That's not really the point though

Although I must confess to not being at all familiar with this fat acceptance movement

If it's like any other blog-fueled cultural/societal war like GamerGate I'm sure the less you know the better

They're both avoidable vices.

I mean, PE's example was ramped up to an 11 on a 1-10 scale, but I get his point.

I get the point he's making, and true both are avoidable vices of consumption, but thats where the similarities end.

Food addiction is more akin to a behavioural addiction such as gambling, video games or sex. Chemical addiction is a whole different ball of wax in how it impacts and alters the body, most significantly the brain.

Fat acceptance is the equivalent to smoking acceptance. And not weed.

Bunch of ham planets telling themselves they are beautiful and healthy, when its the exact opposite. Full on delusionals.

Yeah I pretty much loved everything about that movie. It's not for everyone, but it was certainly perfect for me

Probably been discussed already too, buy Red Army is really good. Can recommend for sure.

Nobody who smokes tells themselves that what they're doing is beautiful and healthy. Some just don't give a ****, others aren't in a position to quit and some can't. Every smoker i've ever met has tried to quit.

I guess smokers aren't delusional. Smoking and being fat have the same health problems.

The healthy at every size movement is disgusting. I'm definitely for positive body image but I'm not for encouraging an unhealthy lifestyle. A lot more needs to be done to prevent obesity in children. On the hockey team I coached last year, I'd say at least 3 of the 15 kids were obese and another 4/5 were heading down the wrong path. I can't even comprehend how a 12 year old kid can be obese, it needs to stop.

I read up more on this fat appectance thing going on. As a fat ass person myself, I cannot believe that people would support/encourage that kind of life style for themselves or loved ones. If a man or woman looks like the Michellan tire man and believes they look good, they're in for a rude awakening.

And as I said before, people need to realize that losing weight is not as simple as eating right and going to the gym. It's a massive obstacle because not only are they dealing with the physical aspect, they are also dealing with the psychological aspect as well. And as far as I'm concerned, that's the hardest part of losing weight.

I think the problem with the fat acceptance thing is the concept of telling 500-pounders (and beyond) how beautiful they are. I mean, I get it....people can be 20, even 50 pound above their ideal body weight and still be healthy. And yeah, someone who is overweight shouldn't be ridiculed or mocked for their weight.

But telling people who are obviously massively overweight that everything is a-ok, or you can be 100+ pounds over your ideal weight and be healthy, and all that kind of thing........that is one of the worst things you can do to someone.

I guess the problem is people go to extremes too easily. Either someone is acting like a bully and mocking someone overweight and making their life miserable (and thus pushing them psychologically further into unhealthy eating), or people are outright lying and saying someone in a world of health problems is perfect the way they are. Need to have a middle ground - supportive but gently honest.

Why are people who are not their physiscians saying this stuff anyway? Listen to your doctor. If they say your weight is damaging your health then you should do something about it.

I get sick of people who have opinions and have to weigh in on EVERYTHING. I'm not going to have someone on the Internet tell me if I'm healthy or not I'll leave that up to an expert. I'm also not going to give advice on something I know nothing about. There's nothing wrong with keeping your mouth shut.

I actually I know nothing of this fat acceptance movement. I just don't think you can put people into neat little boxes. Some people are fat because they're lazy some people are fat because they truly have a genetics problem. Some people I'm sure are fat and still relatively healthy and some aren't.

I know a friend of a friend and the guy is a legit marathon runner, and he's fat. It's the weirdest thing ever.

It doesn't take an expert to understand that if someone is 50+ pounds over weight they aren't healthy. Short term or long term health problems. The human body did not evolve to have that much fat on them.

Some people are fat because they are lazy. The majority is fast because they are uneducated. A tiny percent is fat because of genetics.

Fatties really annoy me because I can't understand why someone doesn't aim for physical perfection. A body is all a person truly has. It should be the most important thing to them.

Don't let the government know that, or they'll find a way to take that away from us, too.

Maybe charge an annual tax per pound or something.

Because life. You have three kids and work a full time job getting to the gym and exercise loses priority. Especially if you're in a sedentary job it makes gaining weight much easier. Also metabolism, some people gain weight a lot easier than others.

Also I'm sure there is a correlation between low income and low education people and obesity. That and if you look at meal portions between the USA and other countries that tells a lot too. I feel you get like double the food here. It's a bit over the top.

Your comment is kind of annoying to be honest because you can't understand why everyone doesn't aim for physical perfection. Really? You don't understand?

I lost 60 pounds and have kept it off for 3 years while living a very sedentary life. The difference is I understand nutrition, how the body works and I have self control.

Metabolism is at most 200 calories more burned in a day for someone of the same size. The problem is people don't know how much to eat in a day for their body size and are terrible at judging or knowing food amounts. Lack of education and bad parenting.

I do not understand. Unless they are some religious nut that thinks they are more then a body. I'm not saying a person needs to achieve it but it should be the goal.
