What if I end up with a Kramer though?

You'll have a friend for life.

Though, I have noticed that the way they do residences now are much more 'hotel' like and seem to almost prevent the random interactions...

But yeah, keep your doors open when you're home and not studying. Then it gets to be a 'hey come say hi' or 'don't bother me' signal too for when people are looking to do stuff. If your door is closed, they'll skip past if it's normally open.

My dorm is definitely hotel like. I haven't seen one door left open.

My roomate in residence two years ago was from Winnipeg. Would go on epic rants about how much he hated the city and everyone in it. It was entertaining at least.

I'm most impressed with the fact that Vesa's ex found another guy named Vesa to fixate on in such a limited radius.

Quite the adventure though. I look forward to the next installment.

What if Vesa's life is exactly like Tom Cruise's from Oblivion?

Batman isn't even in the series :p:

It starts with the Wayne murders, I'm pretty sure Bruce is at least in the first episode.

What I'm really disappointed with is the enormous opportunity to make Thomas and Martha Wayne characters in the series only to kill them off sometime down the line. There's a freaking alternate DC universe where Thomas Wayne is Batman, obviously he wouldn't be in this but he could have been so interesting.

Not impressed with the overall feel of the first 20 minutes. I expected it to be cheesy but the fashion is so weird and the visuals are bizarre.

And wow, Barbara Gordon is a babe.

Aren't they putting in a bunch of the villains who have no business being in Gotham at that time too? (hence the nickname Batman Babies)

But really... who wants to watch a cop drama about (not quite yet) Commissioner Gordon?
It'll be like Smallville where you end up watching Batman grow up but not actually doing anything Batman-like until the final episode.

Like I said, Batman isn't in the series. I've loved the first 20 mins. Not disappointed. Also really like Ben McKenzie.

Loved Smallville. Hoping for the same kind of outcome with Gotham.

Well, personally I have a big interest in young Gordon and the villains. The villains are usually the most interesting part of solid Batman comics. I think a lot of these villains are being forced in though. So far I've seen Poison Ivy as a child and Edward Nigma in paces I never recall them being.

That's my issue right there.
I realize that the TV series are a different medium, hence different universe - but still I think origin stories should be sacred for any well known character.
Need to have a baseline for fans of any given medium to discuss between. So weird to get into nerd arguments with friends who have only watched the DC animated movies for example and base all their arguments on that.

It's not an origin story..

If villains are being villains in Gotham before they're supposed to ever be in Gotham... it alters their origin.

But that said, I've zero interest in watching a Smallville type show in general so really not going to give it a fair shot.

Arrow on the other hand, I need to finish Season 1 and get into Season 2.

I've always been meaning to get into that show but never made the effort, though I've heard good things.

I agree with this, but also agree that (most of) the DC animated movies are amazing, so I can understand why there would be people trying to use them as a base of argument.

There are far worse ways to be introduced to comics than DC Animated stuff. It's top-tier.

The first half of season 1 was pretty awesome, and the comic fans I work continue to be quite pleased with it through season 2.

True, at least all of Timms stuff.
I'm slowly working my way through DCAU movies chronologically... waiting for a night where I can sit down and give Under the Red Hood the treatment I hear it deserves.

Watch the shows as they come up on Netflix usually while I make breakfast :D (though decided to switch over to Clone Wars for the near future)
