The last three things are crazy, but what's wrong with putting fluoride in their water? If anything it's a pretty progressive move (at least for a mormon town). Ottawa does it and so do most major cities in North America.

How does banning alcohol work? Isn't that legal at the provincial level in Alberta? You can have 'dry counties' in Canada that supersede provincial law? Any lawyers here who can explain that? They could only hand out fines, I assume.

Waterloo region actually voted in the last couple years to stop flouridating the water.
I've never really understood the arguments against putting flouride in the water supply - seems the dental health benefits outweigh any perceived risk... and then it comes down to just a dollars and cents issue I suppose?
Of course there's the conspiracy crazies that like to suggest things like it makes people more susceptible to influence via propaganda or something like that.
So eating toothpaste is bad because fluoride but drinking water with fluoride is beneficial.
