i tend to put a lot of stickied threads on the ignore list because they clutter the top. Made a GDT forgetting that I ignored and forgot the GDT signup thread.

I ignored the radio thread a long time ago for some reason and could only access it in a roundabout way by ritually stalking MaindotC. We can move on from that now.

I think moving my posts to the radio thread was really uncalled for.

Anyway - only reason I opened the browser on my phone to post was to say I just had an argument with Siri.

It didn't hurt actually. It was uncomfortable yes, but not painful.

It's also 1:30am and I can't sleep and have to be up at 5am. Can't decide if I should just stay up or try get some shut eye.

Yesterday a small Alberta town that is very Mormon voted to put fluoride in their water, and continue the ban on playing sports at public facilities on Sunday, alcohol, and backyard hens

The last three things are crazy, but what's wrong with putting fluoride in their water? If anything it's a pretty progressive move (at least for a mormon town). Ottawa does it and so do most major cities in North America.

Just including it since there were 5 votes, but two were very similar

How does banning alcohol work? Isn't that legal at the provincial level in Alberta? You can have 'dry counties' in Canada that supersede provincial law? Any lawyers here who can explain that? They could only hand out fines, I assume.

Waterloo region actually voted in the last couple years to stop flouridating the water.
I've never really understood the arguments against putting flouride in the water supply - seems the dental health benefits outweigh any perceived risk... and then it comes down to just a dollars and cents issue I suppose?

Of course there's the conspiracy crazies that like to suggest things like it makes people more susceptible to influence via propaganda or something like that.

I had an endoscopy today. The sedation used was insufficient.

I feel for you. I have had three, two urinary (cystoscopy) and 1 colon (colonoscopy). I have not had an Esophagogastroduodenoscopy. That last one looks like a real bxxxxx. :)

Ya there are many dry areas in Canada. Much of the smaller reserves of Labrador are a dry zone. Some places you are only allowed to purchase so much during a day/at one time. As far as I know it is punishable at the provincial level.

This could be completely wrong but I'm pretty sure whatever temperance legislation Alexander Mackenzie enacted 140 odd years ago that made it so counties could choose whether they are wet or dry was never officially overturned, so some counties can still be dry, however, enforcement would be nearly impossible (other than not allowing alcohol stores in the county).

There is no scientific argument against it that I'm aware of, it's just that sometimes crazy people fall into propaganda about adding chemicals into water and then the vocal minority gets very vocal and city councils get pressured into voting against it. Pretty sure Gatineau is against fluoride in water lol.
