Nice Polak, that's always a nice feeling!

Now I'd like to formally request the lounge's help

I'm trying to get back into music: I used to be all hip but then I got older and the 80's revival came into full swing, life got in the way and I sort of stopped keeping track

I was recommended The War on Drugs because Lost in the Dream got critical acclaim and I must admit not being impressed although I get it, I think it's safe to say I would have loved it if something like this came out in 2005... The entertainment board seems to be filled with the younger folk who love that kind of stuff so I figured I'd ask here

I'm looking for anything you think is excellent that isn't rap/hip-hop or stuff like that Skrillex dude since I just don't care for it. I'm especially fond of instrumental post-rock stuff but also love the more out there stuff in jazz or classical (Bela Bartok is a god) and am also down with bluegrass

Try This:

My favourites are Aerials, The March.

Also try this, another favourite:

Lights & Motion and Explosions in the Sky are awesome. Found out of about these guys from The Lone Survivor.

2007 but I've been very much into Blackbird Raum...

Swidden is a great album...if you're down with hobo-ish, aggressive folk-punk.

I'm deucedely un-hip as well.

A student at the ESL school I teach at told me that all my girls students talk about how I'm the hot white teacher.

Makes me feel pretty dope... Like that scene in Indiana Jones. I catch them often writing my name on their papers with hearts around it.

I thought like you were bald

Though if it's high school age, or near it - make a point of keeping the door open and always at least two students in the room then.

Because last thing you want is rumours.

They're all over 18.

And still, why did Main think I was bald ? I have nice silky hair... And I'm younger than there are pages in this thread !

Wait. All over 18 and they're drawing hearts with your name in it?

There's a certain expression that applies here, which unfortunately I can not use on this site.

However the second half of it ends with a warning to make sure that your address is not known.

I also just realized that of the 2,348 posts I've had here since '07... Probably only 10 have been somewhat beneficial... I probably get more posts deleted than ones that people find thought provoking.

They're all foreign, so you gotta lower your creepy bar

Edit - what I mean is, foreigners are clingier than Canadians.... I can't word this correctly, can I?

You said you had cellulitis infections that caused long-term damage to your scalp and face. I guess it's all moot but just curious where this business about girls gawking at you came from.

Was going to delete this for giggles but I guess that's abuse of mod powers isn't it?

Ya, well I thought you poop out your nose !

In fairness, I met Main once, and I got the same impression.

It was staph infections, and the face damage isn't really noticeable, and my hair grew over the scars on my scalp haha. I do have some small marks on my face tho, but I haven't has one of those on my face since I was 16.

Scars all over my legs, tho :( I'll never be a leg model

My kitten's first thunderstorm and he's home alone right now... I'm still at work for half an hour.

I hope he's alright :(:(

In my experience(2 kittens), kittens aren't that bad with thunder as compared to most puppies.

Came home, he had his tail poofed - but otherwise seems his normal self right now, already started into his dinner ... and just generally zooming around
