Having an owner that spends money doesn’t really matter. Every team spends to the cap when trying to be competitive. It’s not like baseball where you can get a nutty billionaire to come in and drop half a billion on payroll.

It does for Ottawa. Melnyk used to make trades literally to save a few million here and there. I mean he took Phaneuf and Zaitsev off of us, a divisional rival, to save money from his own wallet.

They now have an owner that doesn't seem like he's gonna do that type of stuff. I'm just saying Ottawa finally has a bright future potentially.
