Rather than stepping up and leading Bingo both Peumple and Prince have struggled. That is not a good sign.
I can understand your POV but at the same time it means that you had pretty heavy expectations for both of them
Look at Mike Hoffman
1st AHL season (21 y/o) : 74 Games 7 Goals 18 Assists 25 Points -22 (and even 4 games in the ECHL)
2nd AHL season (22 y/o) : 76 Games 21 Goals 28 Assists 49 Points -18
3rd AHL season (23 y/o) : 41 Games 13 Goals 15 Assists 28 Points +9 (52 pts pace over 76 games)
Then he broke out at 24 y/o
Now what makes you think that Puempel and Prince have struggled? They are both very young playing on a struggling AHL team who lost players like Ceci and ppg forwards like Stone, Hoffman, Pageau and Da Costa since last season... Which team would survive that?
Shane Prince
1st AHL season (20 y/o) : 65 Games 18 Goals 17 Assists 35 Points +12
2nd AHL season (21 y/o) : 69 Games 21 Goals 27 Assists 48 Points +23
3rd AHL season (22 y/o) : 41 Games 15 Goals 18 Assists 33 Points +4 (61 pts pace over 76 games)
Matt Puempel
1st AHL season (21 y/o) : 74 Games 30 Goals 18 Assists 48 Points -11
2nd AHL season (22 y/o) : 43 Games 11 Goals 16 Assists 27 Points -9 (48 pts pace over 76 games)
All paths are very different but it's safe to say than both Puempel and Prince are ahead of Hoffman when he was the same age... Actually, Puempel's sophomore season at 22 y/o is shaping up to be about the same as Hoffman's. Next year is very important for both of them. Time for Prince to make his niche in the NHL and for Puempel to be an elite AHL player, and deserving some call ups.
