2016-2017: Boucher is hired and in his first season, one goal away from the finals. Gets canned 2017-2018 not even finishing the season for not making the playoffs.

2018-2019: DJ Smith's year in the league
2019-2020: Despite Wuhan Flu, still not making it
2020-2021: Maybe a turnaround next year
2021-2022: Some changes may need to be made
2022-2023: Looks pretty bleak at this point.

I guess where I'm going with this is that, why is he still here? Why?
How about this:

2018-2022: Rebuilding team
2022-: Injuries

I haven't been wishing for this to happen, but knew it likely would. They went on such a great run to get themselves back in the Wild Card picture, but after they did that they have to sustain it even longer or fall back out of the picture. Doing that would put them in the category of the 2014-15 playoff comeback. Since they are a pretty young team and none of their best players outside Giroux have any history of winning, sustaining a month long winning run is damn near impossible.

And now they have Edmonton, Colorado, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Boston, Tampa, New Jersey, Florida, Philly, Toronto, Columbus, Carolina, Florida, Tampa, Carolina, and Buffalo. They will win some of those games surely, but that's as tough a stretch to end a season as they could get. It's why winning more earlier in the season was so important so they didn't have to win a ton of games in March to catch up. They knew in October every one of those teams would be good/improved bar Columbus and Philly.
I agree with you 150%!!! I like your style :thumbu:

Do you remember a roster that Bowness had as an Ottawa senators coach? Look at our top 6 and top 4 right now. And then let’s see how we play defensively and how we now get scored on every time we have PP
This team has a far far better record than the Bowness team.

Goalposts keep moving man. Firdt there’s no talent on the backend how can dj be expected to have us look even passable defensively. Then we get chychrun and we look….even worse?? And now it’s ….I don’t even know. I said this from the start of the season you can have lidstrom Chara prime Weber back there and this tea would still be scrambling and falling over themselves.

4 years is long for a rebuild bud. I apologize for sounding impatient as it has been since way back then since just making the playoffs. Now the Calgary PA Is playing Britney Spears. Night just gets worse.

I guess where I'm going with this is that, why is he still here? Why? Yes I am blaming him 100% for everything.
I've settled on the board not allowing a new coach to come in until an owner is defined. That's the most logical answer

4 years is a very short time for a rebuild. Find me another team that has performed a full scorched earth rebuild in 4 years.

I give like a 2% chance of happening. But, it would be easier to do because Sanderson and Chychrun have made Chabot the 3rd best left side D.
I agree it won't happen. I just look at their man games missed the last 4 or 5 years and it's pretty much identical, and like you said, he looks to be our 3rd best now and is paid for more than that.

some of you acting like if DJ was fired today that there would be a lineup of teams waiting to hire him

I think there’s skepticism that will fix the issues, I don’t think anyone is explicitly a DJ fan. They have shown they are capable of playing very good hockey but the consistency hasn’t been there. They make a lot mistakes, mistakes that are made by players who lack experience. Turning it over at the blueline is something every coach will drive into the players but it’s been plaguing them all year. It’s not becuase the coach is bad or the players don’t care. They just lack the experience the consistently make the right decisions.
