Pierre Dorion should be more concerned with how lazy this team is
When your whole identity is hard work and hard to play against(+dump and chase) and ultimately you none of these.. There is a problem.

But is it the coach's fault if they play lazy? I feel last year they were playing so much harder overall. The dcore is a physically weak one.

The bottom 6 plays the way DJ likes it, but it's not the bottom 6 that should make you win most of your game.

It’s getting really hard watching this team after 5-6 seasons of this nonsense. I was really excited at the start of the year and then they actually were playing well, even if the record didn’t always reflect it which happens so things were looking up.

Lately though it’s been a pile of steaming garbage and I’ve been turning off the games more and more again. I feel like watching this team play is turning into a waste of time and not enjoyable again, especially knowing this season is already wasted.

New ownership really can’t come soon enough.

But we need to tweak the top 2 lines putting 2 wingers on their opposite sides; and focus on the offense. Get it in , track, hard on pucks. That's a lot of scoring to make up in that approach.

They don't get as much ice time but why can Kelly, Gambrell and Lucchini have who almost never score have less than half than the minuses of the top 6 players other than Giroux. Its not like they are penned in our end and just escaping it.. they usually are applying pressure in the ozone and they are relentless tracking down the puck and getting it back.

I honestly believe the rebuild has failed. New owners won't make this team into a playoff team: our core is merely ok and our support players are bad.

I still cannot believe Dorion failed to get a dman. Talk about a hack.

It looks like everything I have been talking about for 2-3 seasons is getting more clear, unfortunately. After the off-season Dorion had just before the 2020-21 season, it was pretty easy to know that we wouldn't go anywhere with him. The DJ effect also has a huge negative impact. When you're bad without the puck, it also impacts your scoring.

again... give them a coach that doesn't baby them... one that will actually sit vets and stars when they F**k up constantly... and that can get the forwards (and Chabot) engaged on defence consistently... See what happens...

As long as DJ is here... we have not seen what this core can do...

No no no, they just need to re-learn NHL hockey properly. It is a lot more than "work hard"

I still can't believe Nick Paul and Connor Brown aren't on this team. When your top players become better and get more experience, that kind of players become invaluable

I'm not sure DJ is that bad.

We need better for sure, but this roster is probably not a good coach away from being competitive.

They will put Luchini on line 2, and demote Giroux, call it "shuffling things up" and that will be all, and you will like it.

After this lifeless beating, would like to see some lineup or coaching changes, I'm sure they will just do nothing though.
Debrincat-Stutzle-XXX
Tkachuk-Giroux-Batherson
Kelly-Pinto-Gambrell
Luchini-Kastelic-Watson

They could maybe even put Batherson down and try to add a High energy player on each line

Put Giroux back on PP1 and let him run it.
Keep PK as it is since they are doing good.

I never said "work hard" I said get the forwards engaged defensively and hold your screw ups accountable?

did we not see a run down somewhere recently (with visual confirmation) that some of our forwards are legitimately being taught and asked to cheat defensively in hopes of being sprung for a breakaway?

Of course not, but the easiest move to make is to get rid of a bad coach then look to adjust the roster etc.

They absolutely should have fired DJ in November but Dorion did nothing and we are seeing the results now.

This is the fairest weather group we've had .

I was not saying that to argue with what you said but more to just to say they are just not working properly. They will need to revamp the whole team direction

Ya not buying the rebuild has failed take, it’s a really bad take. The team has taken a step forward this season from last year. There are pieces here under a really good contract. You usually want to go through 2-3 coaches before saying the rebuild has failed. I just think DJ did his job with developing the guys but now we need someone who holds these guys accountable and understands NHL systems
