I have to think the leadership group have told Dorion that they would prefer to stick with DJ until the end of the season rather than play under Capuano. Can't say I really blame them.

Curious why you think that? The players have always stuck to the fact that they like playing under DJ. Dorion has had several opportunities to fire DJ with losing skids and embarrassing losses.

The writing is on the wall for both of them with new ownership coming in but I have to think Dorion doesn't want to look like a fool keeping DJ behind the bench for all this time without a decent reason.

its rather humorous that DJ is putting up certain numbers and hitting milestones similar to our expansion days... 1.5 years after our GM claimed the rebuild was over.
Biggest kick in the balls is another season down the drain and we'll just have 40 more games of bad habits drilled into the players plus a 10-12th overall pick in the end probably.

It was over in November. People that refused to see that were just ignoring what was clear.

Yup, not just baed on the record but the clear lack of progression in the overall play from the group and realizing that they were almost 100% relying on our top-6 forward group to win them through scoring alone. They could only sustain that shit so long.

Can't believe that for a 6th year in a row, we're about to go into the "let's just bring up some kids and give them some NHL experience" part of the season halfway through it.
The best part of this is that the youngsters that really perform well, will still be demoted back to the AHL at the beginning of the following year.

Say what you will about Simpson, at least he's willing to say the truth about the team right now which is that there's been almost no forward progress in their team play and perhaps even some regression. Nice to not be listening to a bunch of excuses for once on the postgame show. And aside from a few exceptions, it appears most fans are also done with this coach.

I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt before the season began. Even willing to cut him some slack after Dorion whiffed on adding an impactful top 4 D. Felt like he deserved the chance to show that he could do something, having stumbled into what on paper looked like a really strong top 6.

But yeah, after November I'm done with him. The fact they didnt do anything is an indictment on both Dorion and his superior(s). It screams "we dont take being competitive seriously"...and if they dont give a shit then why should I?

I guess we need to fire everyone and get the tank going?

That’s gotta sting, embarrassing looking loss.

Just the most shallow take possible when looking at this group.

It’s been the story of the season. This team is top heavy, especially with the injuries and when the players at the top don’t show up the results are never good. That doesn’t just mean offensively either. It was worth noting on a night when the oppositions best came to play. MacKinnon was flying out of the gate and never let off.

Even with a better supporting cast, as long as the best players are turning pucks over at both bluelines and not executing the results will be similar. It’s a young group and there is room to grow but the consistency and maturity isn’t there.
