100% agree that they wouldn't have beaten the warriors with DeRozan, my only argument/opinion is that we'd have made at least one finals if not for the King (ef you Lebron)
And therein lies our different motivations as the only real difference. My main feeling in Basketball was f*** the Warriors and lets get the team best equipped to maybe give them a challenge. Lebron was the only one capable imo. Once KD went there though, there was no point in watching any basketball, you knew who was winning the chip in game 1 of the season. I've never seen a sports league with less competition after the first team.

I really hope that GSP are not trying to leverage Neko Spark's phony bid to try to raise the bidding price. From what I recall, Andlauer was already gung-ho about offering a billion for the team.

I don't want a scenario where all the sane options bow out and we're left with Neko Sparks because he just keeps giving GSP a higher number.

The only thing I'm certain about this bidding process is that Neko isn't getting the team. They might use him for leverage but that giant consortium isn't getting approved. Garrioch and Mendes already reported that "one bidder" has been questioned about his viability.

All the power to you if you want to hate on him, but the accolades speak for themselves. Greatness is often hated on and I hated Crosby and Kobe similarly, and Lebron was on my shit list during his Miami stint, so who am I to judge. I won't clog up this thread with basketball debates either way.

If I can just add one point it's this. The Warriors and KD did this to me. It was a fun rivalry for 2 years until they basically cheated the rest of the league. No team in NBA history would have beat that squad, hell, nobody could even pull off more than one playoff miracle victory against GSW those years let alone a full series against them. It basically put me in a stance of anybody but GSW, no matter who, which meant getting on with Lebron.

So you went from one dynasty to another? How about choosing an underdog? :P

Andlauer's health care company was recently valued at $2.2 billion and his personal net worth is listed at $1.2 billion.

Wouldn’t net worth be higher, or what Am I missing. Does this include his Habs investment.
“Personal net worth” is defined as personal assets less personal debts.

He could have $3 bil in assets but $1.8 bil of debts making his PNW $1.2 bil.

His PNW would include the value of the shares of the business he himself owns. But likely the majority of his assets are held outside of the business; some in investments (either in the investment market itself or ownership of other businesses) and likely a big chunk in real estate (high rise properties)

The holdings of the business aren’t related to his personal wealth outside of the fair market value of the shares he owns

I later posted he owns 1.1 of the 2.2 billion.
So looks like half the company.

Interesting that Mendes said on the Hockey Show podcast that he doesn’t want to report news that he hears because he doesn’t want to be used as a convenient mouthpiece. I infer that the Sparks group is giving him information, as he’s done the most reporting on their group so far. He also says the public posturing is confusing because the bid process is locked down and not influenced at all by the media or public perception.

The ride never ends.

I think I've heard just about every group was 'in the lead' at various stages over the past 10 days, except for Apostolopoulos. Which is ironic because he was the key player in the unsuccessful six billion dollar bid for the Commanders, and is reportedly worth 3.9, more than most other bidders in this process.

Sure the stakeholders want the highest dollar value possible for the team, but I'm sure there's more to the vetting and bid approval process than just the biggest number.

Time for the Twitter insiders to jump on the other railcar
to be fair listening to Frank he said he is not reporting that it is just the sense he is getting. He couldn't verify

Makes sense with a process like this that no one really knows

Sparks was never “in the lead” either.

IMO It was always going to be Andlauer or Kimels based on their rep with the league and eagerness to buy the team from Day 1. Staying silent and not making a giant circus out of it helps too.

I don’t really have a preference between Kimmel and Andlauer

Sparks is by far the most entertaining

Lol. Well I meant I was cheering AGAINST GSW, so I wasn't behind their dynasty, they were busy ruining my fun. And I hated the Lakers dynasty when Shaq/Kobe were running away with it.

I mostly watched the Bulls second threepeat because I was a massive Dennis Rodman fan who got dealt there. MJ was amazing, but I followed more because of Rodman, as strange as that may be.

For whatever reason, in basketball, I follow specific players more than being loyal to one team. I think it's because in my lifetime it's been a league without parity and only maybe 5 teams, and really often only 1 (looking at you GSW & Kobe/Shaq Lakers) typically had a real chance at winning it all most years. Who wants to follow a team year after year with no shot at all. The last couple seasons being so competitive have really rejuvenated the league after GSW ran away with it with KD.

Absolutely, which is why it was so strange that there was a definitive answer from a few yesterday, with nothing from the NHL insiders that would be all over this information.

A few days ago, a guest on TSN1200 said the Edmonton Oilers get around 220 million in real estate revenue from their development project. The Sens get around 20 million.

Now good luck in getting proper details on what happened with the Edmonton Arena. Who paid, etc... But, depending sources, it appears that Edmonton and Alberta tax payers may have picked up a pretty good chunck... Good luck in trying to get a real accurate summary of what took place.

It is why Calgarians are peeved... They were under the assumption of a similar deal.. (The peeved Calgarians are the hockey fans/crowd/flames/media)... The Premier appeared to suggest vote for me and I will consider it..making Albertans (specifically Calgarians) believe it..then "back tracked"... It was interesting to hear an Edmonton Oiler Radio analyst "blast away" a few weeks ago. I guess the hockey community sings from the same hymn book.

So now, Ottawa..... Can we get Daddy long legs (Federal, Provincial, Municipal) to drop 500 miliion to build an arena and fund added developments around it? Then we can leverage the remaining 500 million and have a 1 billion development.. get 150-200 million a year in revenue and "f*** yea"... the 1 B for the team and the 500 m borrowed for the arena become chump change. 150-200 M in real estate revenue will pay for that easily. You can borrow the bulk of the 1.5 billion and pay it back like it was nothing.

But it all hinges on Daddy Long Legs.. Justin, Doug and Mark have to be willing to cut cheques...

Now Pierre's boy, he has committed 300 m... Dougie and Markie Mark, need to come through with 200 M.

All the B level VIPS.. woke Mob.. Have the Indigenous community, African Canadians, South East Asian Canadians.. Heck, the various groups are going through a rolodex of "WOKE" necessity members. Arm twist.. Justin is in, now Dougie and Markie Mark. Next announcements will be; A prominent LGBTQ member/organization. A prominent feminist. A prominent Muslim. And there will be a need to push forth a prominent female Francophone.

How the F did the Euge f*** this up so bad? Wah what he must have spewed at at Jimmie?

Who’s Pierre boy,
Where did you get this 20 million the Sens make on real estate.
Oilers 220 million, per year, over the lifetime of the contract, did you fact check that, sure sounds like BS with more info.

Bro this ain’t the fox news forums.
They might be more accurate sadly.

“Just the sense I’m getting”….what the f*** does this even mean, Frank? Are you crouched in the bushes outside the GSP office telepathically reading the auras of each offer sheet?

Man I can’t wait for this nonsense to be over with already.
