Has nothing to do with race and everything to do with the high likelihood he's a con artist trying to inflate his reputation as a major player, despite being a C tier movie producer, failed crypto hustler and overall sketchy dude.
What are you talking about? At best he's a rich Black man backed by super-rich old white man money lol

Some people are really trying their hardest to turn this into a racial thing.

I see how it came off as a race thing , meant it more in the way of rich old white dudes don’t take the risks of dealing with unknowns and trying new stuff . If Neko was Michael Jordan there would be no issues but he is a unknown.

Not saying neko ain’t getting the team because he is black more so the existing board of governors aren’t risk takers and rightfully so

What's your point?

Goldman Sachs isn’t holding his deposits. They are advising him on the sale. They will be getting paid a fee.

They are to Neko what GSP is to the Melnyks.

Please don’t take us on a trip to Jekyll Island.

Well people should understand what investment banks do and what it takes for them to work for you.

I said in his accounts not theirs. Aside from that how do you know they're just not managing his assets? They have an entire branch for that purpose. Anyways my point is that the threshold is not very high.

Oh no it takes an entire $10m for them to work for you.

Buddy’s tweet said they were representing him, no? Not how you’d characterize a wealth manager.

I’m assuming they’re advising his bid. In which case I think that lends credibility. GS is expensive. It’s like hiring a top law firm.

Apologies if I’m wrong there.

I’m not talking about private wealth management.

I'm not sure how that jives. Why wouldn't the investment bank that manages your assets/investments be representing and advising you on your biggest investment?

Wealth managers are not going to provide advisory services in a billion dollar M&A deal. Completely different arm of the bank.

If he wants to hire Goldman IB to rep him on the acquisition he’s gotta pay. A lot.

GS is pretty serious investment banking representation. He is spending up for that.
What does "repped by Goldman Sachs" mean? I know Goldman Sachs. Just trying to understand the relationship between these two parties? In particular, who is paying who to do what (assuming it boils down to that)?

OK never mind, I see you provided info later on in this thread. Its kind of like an investment banker being involved in handling an IPO (or a SPAC maybe) although this isn't an IPO obviously.

Yeah pretty much every big M&A deal that I’ve been involved with will have buyside IB representation (Goldman) and sell side IB representation (GSP).

You’d also have buyer’s counsel and seller’s counsel on the legal side.
