I'm assuming you're referring to the Sparks' bid which is a joke in all honesty. There is too many people involved which is a big detriment to their viability. Everyone knows the Senators at their current valuation are below the 1B mark.

Astopolopoulos' last second decision to make a bid, working with Kypreos, and him basically trying to land any sports team that becomes available doesn't really indicate he's going to be the greatest owner.

Ya, I'm hoping for the bonafide deep pocket owner as well. I fear that we'll have a lot of the same situation that we did before with a quasi rich owner (under $3 B based on a small amount of research).

The NHL also doesn't want a messy ownership situation where there are multiple squabbling partners. They want one clear majority owner with perhaps one partner - that's it.

It can work it just depends on the structure.

If you have a bunch of silent LPs and then an active GP that manages everything and makes most decisions it's fine. That's how investment funds work at the end of the day. Blackstone makes lots of money for lots of people.

If you have 20 active owners and each time a decision needs to be made each one gets a vote then yeah it's a circus.
