Lmao. The minute Snoop stepped into the scene Reynolds become irrelevant. Even Ian Mendes jumped off that shit. As long as the news guys spends to the cap I could care less what else Snoop wants to do.

Funny, given that the city of Ottawa seems pretty irrelevant to Snoop

If you think Snoop is more relevant than Ryan Reynolds ur living in the 90s
Being a mid twenties white guy myself I’d say the popularity order would be:

1: The Weeknd

2: Snoop/Vancity Reynolds

Not that any of this matters. We need a damn Stanley cup not some Hollywood stars.

The Sens are irrelevant to all the millionaires and billionaires if we’re being honest! VancityReynolds et all are just in it for the real estate play.

Exactly.. and an impossible real estate play when dealing with the NCC. I won't be surprised if we hear more of the groups backing out in the next day or two. Billion dollar bids are highly unlikely if the developers can't get the land they want.

Depends. My crowd of mostly athletes who like to play sports and drink beer, snoop is still more relevant than Ryan Reynolds. Not everyone is a teenager looking for the next superhero movie. As a young adult who statistically has the most disposable income to spend on tickets and merchandise, I hear a snoop song way more often than I watch a Reynolds movie.

I don't think songs vs. movies are the best ways to measure either of their levels of influence. They are both brands at this point. I see Reynolds most often when he goes viral online. I see Snoop Dogg most often on Sketchers commercials.

But either way, the celebrity of it all has become a distraction at this point. People talk about Reynolds, Snoop Dogg and The Weeknd as if these are three equivalent options to choose from, when in reality only one of them was an active participant in their bid (Reynolds).

And in the case of Snoop Dogg, his relative value as a celebrity partner is not the issue. The issue is the person from that group who'll actually be running the team.

Reynolds goes viral online? I thought he just stars in occasional hit movies? I can often waste hours on social media and I don't remember him doing anything viral on it.

What do you mean by active participant? I would assume other celebrities are also putting their own capital in the bid?

I’ll put up a billion but I want to be able to talk to the entities I will depend on to make that valuation feasible.

Reasonable. If they know they are the highest bid, seems like a reasonable request.

Edit: talk = due diligence preliminary negotiations to make sure we won’t get F’d over

Sounds like a strawman pull to me.

But I'm glad the two people here who have done nothing but bang the Snoop drum get to feel real satisfied with themselves.
Your bitterness is very amusing

They're not the highest bid though.

Lmao yeah with legacy tier NHLers such as Matthias Norstrom and Trevor Daley. And they also have the guy who owns some Anytime Fitness locations in Ottawa! Sick group

Comprised of motivational Instagram speakers who act like Great Value Gary Vaynerchuks

I don’t even like Deadpool and I’ve never seen the movies
In addition to having former NHLers Mattias Norstrom and Trevor Daley helping consult on the hockey side of things, The Athletic has learned that Hall of Fame goaltender Grant Fuhr and former Penguins 40-goal scorer James Neal are also helping shape the Sparks ownership group’s direction. The expectation is this ownership group would like to build a large and diverse hockey operations department that would allow the Senators to compete on an even playing surface with their rivals. They would likely carve out a space for Daniel Alfredsson to have a significant role in the department, while also making it a priority to have women hold key front-office positions in hockey operations.

Your gloating isn't.

God forbid people preferred the bid that:
- Was Ontario based
- Had developer experience
- Had plans to bring on local partners
- Had plans to re-develop the CTC
- Were taking steps to address the land claims
- Had celebrity endorsement
- Was planning a bid in the region of a billon dollars
Yeah, no reasons to be bitter there. It's definitely a good sign that one of the frontrunners is pulling out at the last minute.

Maybe "viral" isn't the proper term when he's starting with 49M Instagram followers. Regardless, his celebrity clearly extends way beyond the movies he's in (Wrexham being an obvious example).

What do you mean by active participant? I would assume other celebrities are also putting their own capital in the bid?

The terminology varies based on legal structures, but there is a difference between a partner who is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of a business and partner who has invested money but is not actively involved.

Lmao

Grant Fuhr and James Neal to deal with the NCC?

Good plan. Maybe Neal can elbow Nussbaum on the way to the conference room

James Neal just trying to short cut his way to a PTO in the fall.
