After 2 straight Olympics of double gold....

losing to Germany one day after the women’s side came up short against the USA?

Wow, talk about unexpected.

Yeah but admit that canadians mostly care about hockey and curling. Or am I wrong.

I guess figure skating is big also.

I would say that those are probably the three biggest events because we care about them outside of the Olympics.

Curling is the biggest disappointment for sure. The men have never failed to win the Gold and the women have never failed to medal at all, and both didn't medal.

Hockey isn't as big of a deal because the US were bound to win sooner or later and the men's hockey was a bit of a curiosity this time around.

Figure skating was largely very successful with 4 medals in 5 events.

Normally yes but this time around haven't heard anyone really talking about mens hockey other than disappointment that NHL players arent there. To have record number of medals and none in team curling and some other events we could have won and didnt is even more impressive and everyone seems very happy about the overall team performance.

Germans Have beat Norway, Sweden and Canada now. They also only lost to Sweden 1-0 in the round robin in a nailbiter. The only team to decisively beat them was Finland 5-2 in the opener.

They have gotten better and better as the tournament has gone on and may actually be a good team. OAR shouldnt sleep on them.

It would be a bigger blow certainly if we weren't doing so well elsewhere.

It used to be that we needed those curling and hockey medals because anything else was somewhat of a surprise.

In Russia's favour, they already lost to Slovakia, so they've already learned a valuable lesson.

Losing that first game was huge for them.

In an NHL year you are right, with these Olympics I don't know anyone who really cares or is that upset by this result.

In the past with NHLers I have said I would take Gold in mens hockey if it meant we won zero medals anywhere else, this year I didn't watch a single game and only I think 5 mins of the game versus Finland.

Now I may be an extreme case but the feeling is generally the same people did not care nearly as much this as previous years.
