Here's hoping the last 2 Olympic hockey games aren't shown here in Canada. I don't want to see them, and I want no record of Canada losing bronze tomorrow on tape.

And I don't want Canada's sports failures to ever be commented on on this planet ever again. In winter sports, no one should win but us, even if all advancement in them is squashed off and crushed in a vice.

Losing is important.

Losing in 1998 taught Canada a lot about how to organize themselves for international hockey in the modern age.

Losing in 2006 taught Canada not to simply pick players because you like them, or they won before, but because of how they are playing at that given time.

Losing this tournament will tell Hockey Canada that maybe if they want to continue to win Gold Medals at the highest level, they'll have to apply some pressure to the players and the owners.

Should be a walk in the park anytime Canada plays Germany but looking at that roster (especially the D) and who knows what could happen.

Unlike the US we don't suck and unlike Sweden we don't tend to choke so I expect a win but I haven't watched any of the games so far so i am going off the fact i can't see anyway in which Germany can beat Canada at hockey.

3-1 Canada, hope they win as they seem to have some good guys (Raymond, Brule, Kozun, Vey) that deserve a medal.
You say you don't suck yet you're expecting to lose??? Lol. That's awesome!!! I on the other hand would LOVE to see you Germans win!!! I love an under dog.

We might have to ban Canadian citizenship for such a poor performance and not bringing gold. Congrats to Germany

In Sweden people called the loss a huge fiasco. Of course its a fiasco for Sweden to lose in the QFs as well as its a fiasco for Canada to lose against Germany in the SFs.

With that said, I wouldn't put the fiasco part on the players. Its as simple as this, Germany played a really good game against both Canada and Sweden. Neither Sweden nor Germany had teams in this tournament that easily should beat this Germany team. Sure Germany lost the shots big, but they took away ice defensively and was dangerous offensively for stretches. If you can do that in a hockey game -- you can win.

Sweden losing against Belarus in Salt Lake was a fiasco on part of the Swedish players. It was a game they dominated tremendously that was lost because Sweden stiffened up completely as the game went on while still being closed. My point is just, these losses are different in that perspective. Of course the players could have done a better job and its still two loses the players should have won, but I think these games were more about you lose some and win some character.

Canada's the underdog in all sports we play, hockey included. We have no say in control of our sport anymore, when that shouldn't be the case at all.

Problem is, with a lot of people here in Canada, hockey continues to be glamorized and romanticized. That needs to end. I stopped doing that as far back as 1994, when Vancouver lost the Cup to a U.S. franchise.

Nothing good comes from hockey if it's not Canada's voice that's the only one that speaks on it. And we end up seeing all our progress flushed down the toilet, never to recover again.

I'd rather the rest of the world be a slave to Canada's every hockey whim, and eat knees to the head every time they make noise, and kept on short leashes.

Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer, right Rolodex?

And the one who was the biggest casualty of the Montreal Screwjob was Owen Hart, who Bret couldn't save from WWE's gravely incompetent booking advice.

In fact, Owen Hart's fall built Paul 'Triple H' Levesque's rise to power and control of WWE. Paul used Owen's death for that crap.

I just hope Paul didn't touch Owen's harness before that stunt occurred.

Alright people..... enough of this crap..... start being civil.....
as in "good for Germany" etc etc or we start getting nasty. :madfire:

That's the problem....being nice to the world is what got Canada into this hockey mess, and it's going to take an extremely expensive effort to fix this..to get Gold back in our possession.

And that's going to be, probably, too hard to do if the world has caught up to us, where we can't win Gold without pros.

And yeah, I'm REAL easy to p**s off when it comes to hockey, because I've had to take the crap of people like all non-Canadian hockey fans, FOX, ABC, NBC, Gary Bettman, and many other idiots who say 'It's never okay for hockey championship parades, for either the Stanley Cup, or for any IIHF/Olympic Gold Medals, to happen on the streets of a Canadian city.'

I'm not a fan who sits by quietly when I see hockey injustice go on. I speak up, defend Canada's best hockey interests, and demand that no one else around the world beat us on their terms.

Is there something wrong with that? Not really.

We send a E team and lost, the result is totally expected. Good for Germany though, should be good for their hockey development.

What is this incoherent rant lol?!

I'm not sure why anyone is upset by this result. The Germany team played a good game... Canada took too many dumb penalties and didn't score on their chances.

As far as not winning gold, this is what is expected when you send a team that puts you on equal footing with all the other teams. Other than the OAR team being a bit ahead of everyone else, these games were equal and anyone can beat anyone in a single game knockout.

Historically , other than Turin , Canada does well when they can send their best. And historically it's a toss up when we don't. The result should surprise no one.
