It wasn’t a big deal in Canada either until TSN came along and had no hockey broadcasting rights so they made a Christmas tradition out of this tournament.

Canada winning 5 times in a row helped.

I am happy Canada doesn't win 5 times in a row anymore. The game is more international than ever and it is the best thing that can happen to hockey. Canada still usually wins when the best are playing, but everyone else has a chance and it is a beautiful thing.

Well if the World Championships matter more, I guess it’s good that Canada has 26 golds and Finland has 3.

WJC popularity has come a long way in Finland. I recall having to resort to a pixelated TSN stream to watch WJC just 10 years ago.

Yes, it is followed much more now. Still not remotely close to World Championships.

Had my doubts about Canada's blueline after the first couple games but they have been really solid since.

They've been solid, but if Hofer hadn't been world class in net, I'm sure we'd still be doubting them.

It’s also fun because the rosters always change.

Sometimes at the senior levels, you see the same names over and over again.

The NHL playoffs throw a wrench into that a bit.
