Montreal would have to clear some cap space but how about

To VAN:
2017 1st round pick
David Desharnais
Alexei Emelin
Mikhail Sergachev
Nikita Scherbak

To MTL:
Daniel Sedin (50% retained)
Henrik Sedin (50% retained)
Alex Edler

Maybe throw in Noah Juulsen as well but that may be too much. Montreal could dress a lineup like this:

Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Brendan Gallagher
Max Pacioretty - Alex Galchenyuk - Alexander Radulov
Arturri Lehkonen - Tomas Plekanec - Andrew Shaw
Philip Danault - Torrey Mitchell - Paul Byron

Alex Edler - Shea Weber
Andrei Markov - Jeff Petry
Nathan Beaulieu - Greg Pateryn

And Vancouver would put themselves in excellent position for the Nolan Patrick sweepstakes in addition to building towards a future top four on defense that includes Sergachev, Juolevi and Stecher. As well as adding Scherbak to the young forward core of Horvat/Boeser/Virtanen/Baertschi.

If Van are open to picks (1st and more), guys like McCarron (I really like him but I think we have a serious shot now), Hudon, Juulsen, Sherbak, and salary dumps / retains, I'd be down.

We take the Sedin at the deadline if the Nucks are out. We give you future consideration, a bad contract or two to make the cap work maybe a second round pick as collateral.

For that trade to happen the twins will have to waive their NTC! When the playoff are over we make the trade back for that second round pick and now you can expose them, and not lose a good asset.

Just the thought of those 2 in a Habs jersey makes me sick to my stomach.
No thanks.

...Please don't tell me you're serious...

While I do think OP is unfair, I think something like Desharnais + Sergachev + Scherbak/Juulsen (After a tough year last year, Juulsen seems like he's back on track) for both Sedins at 50% is something that can work for both sides.

He was never off track. He had a great year of development on his defensive play which improved tremendously.

yeah sure, let's just 'throw in' Juulsen, who along with Sergachev will both be top 3s in Montreal. Where does Bergevin sign for two 36 yo's making 7 mill each?

no it can't, because bergevin would've hung up the phone

I didn't know that they made $7m. That's a lot when you have two to take into account. Still really good players, but age is what it is. If Vancouver held onto some salary, I bet they'd get a really good return from a contender.

It would have to be something like Sedins (7mil retained) and Tryamkin for Sergachev, Desharnais, and a 2nd.

The Sedins as a 2nd line are amazing, they're still a very serviceable 1st line. Tryamkin is a promising prospect that is extremely intriguing, but he needs to be sent away from our coach before he gets tired on it and heads back to Russia. With Markov around that would be less likely to happen.

Losing Sergashev sucks... But, this gives MTL a legit cup shot while Price and Weber are in their primes.

HF never fails to remind me that there is an abundance of stupid in this world.

Besides, Sedin's are far from "garbage".

How does the Sedins go from best players on Team Sweden to absolute garbage on the Canucks? Because they're cycling in the offensive zone with Larsen and Sbisa in the backend or Edler. That's not going to work.

On this Canadiens team they're a lock for 75+

Sedin - Sedin - Gallagher
Emelin - Weber "C"

AFAIK only the Sedins have a modified NTC but they'll obviously waive it to win the cup with Team BC.

To Vancouver:
Desharnais 3.5M
Pacioretty 4.5M
Plekanec 6M
14M + 2.4M capspace
Mikhail Sergachev

To Montreal:
Henrik Sedin 7M
Daniel Sedin 7M
Markus Granlund 0.900K (better than Desharnais)
14.9M

This move will allow Vancouver to rebuild as they trade all 3 acquired Habs players for minor roster player and major futures at the TDL. I have less interest in seeing Pacioretty, and Desharnais on a rebuilding team.

Again this is a pipe dream as the Canucks ownership, GM and coach refuse to rebuild and we'll never truly be tanking with the Sedins playing.

This doesn't look like a move that would get Montreal to win the Cup. Also Montreal is trading Pacioretty and Sergachev for that is crazy.

This thread is instantly wrong not because the Sedin's can't be dealt but because it assumes the Sedin's linemates are their issue.

The Sedin's have hit the age wall plain and simple. It's really telling when Henrik Sedin is flubbing cross ice and saucer passes, and Daniel is having trouble raising the puck off the ice on his shots.

They need to be carried by workhorse players in order to even set up in the offensive zone. That's why the likes of Jannik Hansen works with them and Eriksson and Vrbata didn't.

Agree so keep them because you will never come close to getting what the OP offered.
This Hab fan passes quite easily.

Never been a fan of them, never will.
As I said. Makes me sick just thinking of them stinking up the jersey.
Let them stay where they are.

Sedins are future Hall of Famers even if they don't win a cup. You had Kostitsyn brothers playing for your sacred jersey, it got its fair share of stinking already.

So we're getting rid of our core to get Sedins?

Why?

I'd gladly take the sedins but you aren't getting the core for it. That makes no sense.

If it doesn't work then so be it. I don't care enough to get them.

This is a brutal proposal.

Well, seeeing as I am not a GM, I get to make my choices based as a fan, and as such I am not a fan of the twins so no thanx.
If I was a GM, maybe my opinion would change but not likely. There are other options I'm sure that would be just as useful.
If Vancouver doesn't want them anymore, then put them on a plane and send them home.

And a Leafs fan shouldn't be talking about stinking up jerseys.

Well the trade would have to be for future or else the Canadians or any contender to going to gut their team for two guys.

And what salary retention (Canucks)of expensive return would the Canadians make it cap OK for this year an next.

Hi I live in fantasy land, now that you know that....

How about we give the sedins (50% off)+edler for your 2017 1st+2018 1st+Juulsen+Emlin+DD then at the draft we give Emlin+DD back for the sedins and keep the 1st's + Juulesn for Edler as compemsation assuming Habs at least win the ECF. Sound good? Sedins would waive for that right? Everyone happy?
