I respect your opinion, and I hope he turns it around, but I don't see him ever outcompeting Guhle, Hutson and Struble on our team. The team will likely acquire a veteran RHD at some point, and Reinbacher, Mailloux and Barron will fight for the other two spots on D.
Thx. The decision on Arber isn’t anytime soon imo. And personally I don’t think struble or Barron are better. And I like Mailloux but not convinced he can put it all together. Dman also take multiple years to develop. Like late 20s. I guess we’ll see. I don’t see any dmen in the system who brings what Arber does. Patience is essential

Rempe was uber popular with the Rangers fans, Where is he now ? In the AHL where he belongs until he learns how to really play a pro game. Same should had been applied with Xhekaj, even more because he is a d-man, a more difficult position lo learn.
He is only an enforcer, also Rangers have tough guys. Xhekaj is quite good, plus you have only him.

Anderson has played very good, true, the Anderson - Evans - Gallagher line is excellent.

Christian is not a NHL player now.

Mailloux, Hutson, Struble and Xhekaj are young guys, they still can make mistakes.
Yes, the collective NHL experience of our defense is ridiculously low. Nobody could make a team with this defense win anything. We had a similar situation two years ago with Guhle, Harris and Kovacevic, but Guhle is a better talent, and Harris (22) and Kovacevic (25) were older and had more experience.

Harris is not too good so I do not count him.

I forced myself to listen to St Louis press conference and yeah... he thinks that this game is hard to evaluate. Hmm... I think nobody here has any trouble evaluating this game. Anyone who has 2 eyes is able to pretty easily evaluate the game. But ok...

So 10 games in, blown out in 5 of them by Boston, Pitt, NYR, Seattle, and the Kings. 10 games in and they have allowed 40 goals against. Team and the coach look they are uninterested.

Hard to evaluate, I’ll give it a try.

They look unprepared at puck drop most nights, they get badly outshot most nights, they give up a ridiculous amount of quality chances every night, they are horrible on their side of center ice, no forecheck, no passion, and a coach that just wants to talk concepts, and lots more..

Looking forward to when they go on the road to a Carolina, Florida, NYR, lol. Just a defensive gong show even when they win.

Going to lose more than you win during a rebuild but losing by rolling over most nights is unacceptable.

Yep seems like Montombeau is back. Was fun while it lasted. For me it doesn't matter how good or bad the defense plays if you give 8 goals in 23 shots then you have been terrible.
disagree. it was a bad game, sure, and for the record it was 5 goals on 10 shots. but how much of it can be attributed to this defense:

Matheson (30)
Mailloux (21, rookie)
Struble (23)
Hutson (20, rookie)
Savard (34)
Xhekaj (23)

i'm not sure, but i wouldn't write Monty off just yet. he's got the talent, he just needs to be well-surrounded.

Question for Hughes is whether they have too many inexperienced Dmen that they are trying to develop at the NHL level at the same time. Guhle the best of the youngsters. 2 raw rookies and 3 guys with barely 200 NHL games combined between them.

Maybe they needed to focus on only developing 2 or 3 of them in the NHL. Now you have kids playing with kids with Guhle out of the lineup.

See... wasn't hard. You should send this to Marty. Save him sometime evaluating :)

Monty has fallen back to earth and landed at the bottom of an outhouse shitter
Hard to be a goalie when the team in front of you plays so poorly in front of them. They give up so many quality chances every night. They are a train wreck in their own end.

He's not the first or last goalie to play behind a young team, letting in half of the shots against is brutal for a supposed #1 starter

Team obviously needs to tighten up but game was over before half the fans even sat in their seats

Not sure why anyone would disagree that 8 goals in 23 shots is terrible. That's almost 1 goal every 3 shots. The 23 goals would literally need to be all high danger scoring chances to be a not terrible game.

  • I mean 1st goal was extremely weak and i don't think you can really blame the defense much on this one.
  • 2nd goal was extremely weak too. Maybe those two goals got deflected a bit but deflected shots are common occurrence in the NHL you got to stop those more often than 1 out of 3.
  • 5th goal was a joke. Like really a weak wrist shot from the blueline ...
  • 7th goal would have been fine if it had been Ovy. But like it's Montour at one point you have to make some saves in a game on shots that are not pee wee level.
BTW i'm not saying the team played great but that the goalies were as bad as everyone else and unless you have a top 5 offense hard to win games when the goalies play like that.

Jose Theodore won the hart and vezina playing behind a defense as worse as that. Not blaming the goalies just saying they have been terrible this year like everyone else.

Jesus 8-2??? I turned it off after 2 goals on 2 shots.

It's almost humorous how this team yo-yos our emotions. We trade for Laine to give the team and fans hope, then we lose him before the season starts. We start the season 2-1, then we lose 4 straight. We win a back to back on the weekend and start to have a little faith again, then we get blown out by a very mediocre team.
