They showed Dorsey calling a few plays last night and he looked frantic in a too hyped kinda way. Imagine Josh Allen on the other end getting fed that type of energy in his ear every play. Might explain why no huddle worked so well. It wasnt a healthy relationship. One fed into the other. It was right to move on from him. Little too late but getting to draft in the teens might be best thing for this team. You can still get top end talent in that position

Glad to see Dorsey go since I’m sure he was *a* problem for this team. I feel less sure whether he was *the* problem and am starting to wonder about McDermott, too.
I'm here as well. It seems like McD is wearing too many different hats as both HC and DC and it's cascaded down to create issues across the board. His desire for a slower-paced, ball control offense seems fully at odds with what's actually worked for the team this year, and I'm not a fan of how quick he's been to push accountability onto literally everyone else during pressers. This was the last domino he could tip over at the moment.

Also, while Allen bears a lot of responsibility for his struggles, the coaches seem to think he should just figure everything out on his own during the game, and that hasn't gone well so far. I'd like to see someone from the staff actually talk to him on the sidelines, both in a "wake the **** up" way and to go over what he's seeing on the field. Considering the number of times he's thrown that back-breaking Cover 2 hole shot pick directly at DBs, it's ridiculous that they haven't gotten it sorted out.

Do I know my man or what?
The offense was a major issue though, wouldn’t you say? The defense is missing 5-6 starters and they’re still keeping the Bills in games.

How many truly good games has the offense had under Dorsey this year? Or even last year?
It seems to me like the longer Dorsey has been OC, the worse the offense is getting.

So I’d say you were right about him being fired but not about it being a cowardly move.

I’m not saying it’s not true. But what’s the working theory on his meddling on offense I keep seeing referenced?

And my biggest concern is that McDermott has just lost this team. They seem a bit broken. Players are making more mistakes, it seems to be in their head.

Dorsey had to go. a long time ago. They waited until the pressure was on McDermott instead of Dorsey….which says everything you need to know about McDermott.
Eh. Or you could say that McDermott was trying to be patient and give Dorsey time to fix it.

Plus you have to factor in Josh Allen still supporting Dorsey.

I do think McDermott is feeling some heat though

Can’t believe they actually fired someone mid season.

Ditto.

Like others have said -- I'm still questioning McDermott. But it sure looked like Dorsey was a problem.

My hope, as I said before, is that this wakes Josh up. He endorsed Dorsey. His play directly affected Dorsey's employment status. Maybe he'll get his head out of his ass.

It definitely seems like a bit of a scapegoat move. Not saying Dorsey shouldn’t have been fired or that this won’t help, but last night was not on Dorsey. Everything else ugly about this team showed up last night

—————

For all of Dorsey’s failures, one of the more obvious was an inability to use secondary weapons. Just nothing from Hynes last year. Nothing from Sherfield and Hardy this year.

Maybe Brady can incorporate talented players a little better

It's like same thing he did with Frazier and Heath Farwell

I don’t care what anyone says, the 12 men is on the players. That’s an execution mistake not a coaching mistake.

And why salty about zero blitzes? The first resulted in a sack and the second caused an odd target pass…

Dorsey was a problem. Not the only problem. But the coordinator goes before the head coach if you don’t right the ship.

I think it comes from cobbling together little glimpses and implications of what may be going on. His frosty handshake with Daboll might mean nothing, or it might mean that the rumors that they didn’t get along are true. McD’s statements about pacing and complementary football and such could be general philosophies, or they could be directives to his staff.

I agree, it’s totally on the players. But at a certain point, a pattern of poor execution is something that reflects the coaches. This is the second time in three years we have lost a game due to a special team miscommunication. One is too many. Two is unprecedented

The problem I think ACE and many other have is that Sean McDermott is the offensive coach too.

Why because he's the head coach. He picks what he wants to run stylistically and the person to do it. The OC calls the game plan but the offense the Bills run is the vision that the HC wants.

And if he gives free range to Dorsey who had 0 OC experience then that's even more concerning.

I think there’s definitely issues between him and daboll. We even have those Flores lawsuit text messages. That handshake cemented it.

And Frazier left under stranger circumstances

Only thing I see is he did it a week late. Dorsey and the players clearly had a disconnect going back to last year and had all off-season to work on it. It flashed glimpses but then also hit rock bottom yesterday. Dorsey isnt a bad OC he just lost the locker room and it shows. McD has his criticisms but he really can't be involved in all 4 facets. Hoping Brady calls from the sidelines.

McD seems like a guy that requires his leaders to keep their house in order. I completely understand him wanting to have a balanced game because his defense benefits from not being on the field all game. If he is having to deal with the offensive side not meshing and then worrying about using a 3rd string defense to keep their team in it, I'd be pissed too.
