Honestly I'm not that worried about McD vs their offense. We know who McD is and for the most part he's in the top 3rd of the league in aggressiveness. He's also a great defensive mind, but the injuries might be too much to overcome against against elite QBs. If their offense runs over us, I think it'll be a very good learning experience for some of the young guys that are in the lineup.

For me the big story will be Dorsey/Allen vs Anarumo. Their D kicked our offense's ass in the playoffs, we had no answers for some of their pressures and moving the ball was a massive struggle. I wanna see us solve their D, they do that and I'll have a big positive to lean on, even if we lose.
I'm expecting the defense to get absolutely run over. I think Burrow is going to get the ball out of his hand FAST and then Chase/Higgins/Boyd are going to torch us with YAC.

Our offensive line by and large is playing better than they were last year, so we've got that going for us (which is nice). But I do think Anarumo is going to challenge them in ways they haven't seen yet. I know the stats say that the Bengals' run D has been shit this year, but I think their real weakness is their secondary. The way to beat them, IMO......is the same way you beat our D -- ball out quick, let the WRs YAC them.

We'll see what happens, but I don't anticipate our D getting a meaningful stop (IE, punt) until well into the 3rd quarter. I don't think our O can score with them.

Not sure I agree that our offense won't be able to keep up because I think Allen is capable of flipping a gameplan on its head pretty quick if he's feeling himself. That's a big if, obviously.

Certainly agree about their offense tearing us apart, though. It's going to be like death by a thousand cuts. Just short passes with long YAC as you mentioned and guys struggling to make tackles. If Von doesn't get comfortable making inside moves rather than just rushing straight ahead to the outside, we're going to be in trouble. We only win this game if we get pressure to disrupt that otherwise mechanical passing game.

Yeah. The defense is going to get abused, and barring Allen playing like a god- I don't think we have much of a chance.

Any given Sunday, of course, but the Bengals are going to be bringing some creative blitz packages, and Allen has struggled picking that up pre snap. I have zero faith the defense will be solid. They're likely going to get abused.

I'm thinking Cincy wins this one by two scores. Unfortunately, they're just the more well-rounded team, and their defense tends to play their best football against good offenses. I would have a different opinion if the defense was fully healthy.

Fournette is a good add. Buffalo still struggles on short yardage running. Murray is great at that and in the passing game. If all Fournette provides is 2-3 yards in short yardage situations, then that's a good signing.

The pass rush has been really good and it could have been even better...

They're going to have to be really smart with their rush lanes against Burrow - he may not break off long runs, but he's really good at escaping and picking up that back breaking third down with his legs, and he seems to be healthy enough again to do it judging from his game against San Fran. Getting push up the middle from the tackles is going to be huge - not to mention the need to holding the rushing game in check.

Leonard Williams (NYG) going to Seattle for a 2nd and 5th. Could they turn a 5th for Elam ?

Hm...I've always like Fournette, but I fear he may be washed, and Murray may be the better option.
Murray looked like he is slowing down the last couple weeks to me after a good start. Some veteran protection, good pass catcher, and pass protection.

Positioning for the draft - if Beane could turn Elam and a 4th into a 2nd round pick, or some way to get an extra 2nd, I'd be happy.

Rounds 1-3 are pretty good. Not going to use any superlatives, but it's a good draft to have multiple day 2 picks.

Beane will also have that extra 3rd comp pick (end of) for Edmunds so I expect something to go down. DT, CB, depth WR.

I'm not too high on the team right now, though I do think they'll still make the playoffs, and from there- anything can happen.

I will say, though, I think the team will be marginally better by the time the playoffs come around. I expect Beane to make a few moves to better the team. I'm really hoping for a big body in the middle of the defensive line.

I called this a few weeks ago -- that if Beane was looking at CBs, Johnson should be the main target. Not a huge cap hit and shouldn't cost a whole lot.

Might also be extendable.

As far as the Tre thing goes......designating him as a post-June 1 cut would save us $10M on cap......which we could then replace with Johnson.

Makes all the sense in the world to me.
