Dvorak is not trade yet, but Monohan does not sign here to play wing or 4C. A 1 year deal is for him to rebound and make sure he can extend his career. So he's either 2C or 3C. Based on risk, you can rely on him for 2C so a more reasonable guess here is that they told him he'll be 3C.
That make Dvrorak expendable. so you either package him for PLD or a RD somewhere.

man still makes me mad to see Gally on the 4th line.... where he belongs but at that the coin... grrrrI'd love to get Dvo's trade value up before we move him. Imo his offensive tools are perfect for playing wing with good offensive players.
Caufield - Suzuki - Dvorak
RHP - Dach - Anderson
Slaf - Monahan - Gurianov
Gallagher - Evan's - Ylonen
Pez, Belzile
May be many more moves so hard to fill everything else. But ideally that's where I want Dvo to get his trade value up. I think he could put up 50 to 60 points.
LOL I somehow doubt having to give up Dvo was holding up the deal or any deal for that matter.Good. Now trade dvo to Winnipeg in a PLD trade.
You can tell we haven't had many top 6 players in our years here recently when a broken down Monahan came in and was visually our third best forward to watch in his short spurts healthy last year
Nice signing. Less than $2M. Hopefully he remains healthy and can be flipped at the TDL.
So the games played bonus brings him exactly at $2M.
So far
Dach - Suzuki - Caufield
Slafkovsky - Monahan - Anderson
Heineman - Dvorak - Gallagher
RHP - Evans - Armia/Hoffman
Ylonen
we let Gurianov walk
Slfa had his best games playing with Monahan in my opinionAnother though... I think that slakovsky played his best hockey on Monohan wing, not sure if other agree. So there may be a mentoring angle to this too.
CC - Suzuki - RHP
Anderson - Dach - Hoffman
Slaf - Monohan - Gally
Pezz - Evans - Armia
If you get PLD, you drop Pezz to the press box, and hoffman to 3r or 4th.
That is a good point....Imo, don't separate RHP and Anderson. Anderson had the best production per game in his career once RHP was called up.
Let's see if he can keep it up. If he can't, he can't. But let's see.
Part of getting good means both those players are fodder eventually.Monahan is back, at a super cheap price tag too (which makes it easier to move at the deadline). I really liked him last year until he got injured.
And that makes Dvorak (or Evans) very expendable.
As long as he is healthy by TDL next year, if he's performing at the same level, he's going to bring back a 1st round pick..Its a great dealNot really excited or disappointed in this signing. He'll play well for a while until he gets hurt again. Good player, good guy but he's got a lot of miles on him. Decent short term signing
It has to be 15k per game played, otherwise this is a head scratcher! That's a strange bonus, $15,000 only?
I think this is a good move! Depth is always appreciated and Monahan definitely must've impressed MSL and the organization enough to stick around. Good for him and for the Habs to give this another go. If Monahan was unhappy I think he could've found c. 2m somewhere else on the open market but he chose to stick around with the Habs. A good sign that Hughes is building something attractive for players and this is IN SPITE of the losing record. I can imagine how much more exciting this organization will be to other players when we start competing for the big prize.
Heineman is an NHL player, they need to get rid of at least 2 of the bottom 5 players on your listIf none of Drouin, Gurianov, Belzile, Byron and Tierney returns, we'd still have 15 forwards as of now
- Suzuki
- Caufield
- Dach
- Slafkovsky
- Monahan
- Evans
- Pitlick
- Pezzetta
- Ylonen
- RHP
- Anderson
- Gallagher
- Armia
- Hoffman
- Dvorak
Yeah remember how a washed up Ilya Kovalchuk moved the fan base. You can tell we haven't had many top 6 players in our years here recently when a broken down Monahan came in and was visually our third best forward to watch in his short spurts healthy last year
