I was just thinking that as I watched him speaking.huh. i know this is the Farrell thread but Harris seems like such a nice and well-spoken guy. he didn't have to give elaborate 1 min long answers. the median sentence length for players answering reporters is probably like 5 words, then stop, wait for next Q from reporters
Lots of room….My question is where does a 5 ft 9 ,175 lb C /W gonna fit in the Habs future lineup?
I’d keep them both in the OHLIt will be curious what they do with Mesar. Because in Beck's case, it's either NHL or Junior. But they don't have that limitation with Mesar. He's eligible for Laval.
No way I want to give up assets or cap space to move Hoffman for little return, in order to 'make room for' a support player. No question in my mind, in your lineup scenario, I'd rather have Ylonen play every night, since he's NHL ready and may be part of the future, than Hoffman, who will be gone at the end of the year.
But, imo, since it's hard to justify sitting a player who's better currently for one who's worse, Hoffman needs to be moved to prevent that, because it potentially could be the case. Trade him 50% retained or buy him out, or trade him for a former NHLer with an equally bad contract who's been buried in the AHL.
Farrell is not competing with RHP. Farrell is competing for ice time with Hoffman and Gurianov, RHP with Pezzetta and Ylonen. We can have both.Lots of room….
For now we have for big forwards…..
Dach
Anderson
Gurianov
Slafkovski
Hypothetically we sign Dubois and draft Fantilli
Then you have the not “big” but Solid Suzuki
So 7 of the top 9 guys are lets say no pushovers, they can dominate the ice of their choosing.
I’m easily fitting in one of the most lethal shooters in the league in Caufield and there’s one more spot for a smaller player with fight and vision and that’s Farrell or RHP.
As long as those smaller players are well insulated, it’s not an issue….
Think sending RHP to the AHL sends the wrong message. The plan is for Ylonen and RHP, who came up due to injuries, to go back and help Laval win a Calder Cup if they can. That would be a good experience.
Next year, both are waiver-eligible and will fight for their spots in camp.
RHP is playing with Hoffman and Suzuki….that ain’t changing…..for nowNo way I want to give up assets or cap space to move Hoffman for little return, in order to 'make room for' a support player.

LOL! Are people seriously upset that we drafted Farrell at #124?Hughes had nothing to do with drafting Farrell. It's all on Trevor T.
I'd love to see some sort of graph that plots up players by intellect.I was just thinking that as I watched him speaking.
Yeah, why not trade our most talented prospect?Rather just use him as trade bait, an add on in a deal if needed. You know where i'm coming from. .
Sean Farrell fans: "He is small but he battles"Smurfzilla will be a career AHL player.
This hottake was brought to you by WAH - buy a Hyndai and go WAH like Mark Scheiffele
Harris finished his degree, did he not?
Dvorak? Hoffman? Gallagher?Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Farrell - Dach - Gurianov
RHP - _____ _ Anderson
Heineman - Evans - Ylonen
Then we see what we add to this with trades, free agency, other current prospects panning out, and the upcoming drafts.

In Farrell's case, they had no choice. Negos and now has become a given. It's not a matter of sitting a player, they will need to send somebody to Laval.
Hoffman's already taking up a lot of cap space. If we trade him at 50% retained, we could actually gain capspaceNo way I want to give up assets or cap space to move Hoffman for little return, in order to 'make room for' a support player.

We were discussing a rough sketch of the future core. I would prefer all those 3 not to be apart of the future. Though I wouldn't mind Dvo as a winger/injury replacement center...Dvorak? Hoffman? Gallagher?

Farrell has played with pro and against pro players already at least twice at the Worlds and Olympic Games last year. Possibly, all of them bigger than him.
That's how I see it, and it's also why I liked the Dach trade from the outset. There was no comparable center with skill and size at 13 at the draft when we got him. I'd like to see HuGo pull another one of that kind, for a combination of size and skill. Asking a lot probably.Lots of room….

As McGuire apply pointed out on Melnick’s show the other day:Farrell has played with pro and against pro players already at least twice at the Worlds and Olympic Games last year. Possibly, all of them bigger than him.
The exact same thing has been said about Matheson and Dach.
