Prospect Info: Sean Farrell, C/LW, 124th Overall

Has to be Fantili. He's leading the NCAA in pts/game and is doing it as an 18 year old.

If he keeps up that pace, he's only played 19 games so far so we'll see. McAllister has led the NCAA in points all season long so if he keeps this up I could see him winning it although his teammate will take some votes from him and now a player from BG out in the CCHA who's been hot of late and could take over the scoring lead, the next few weeks will be interesting.

Usually they like to give the Hobey Baker to older players but of course some times they don't have a choice ala Caufield etc...

Some people here did the same for Caufield lol

Oh! We should use him as a trade chip! Too small anyway!

I think the majority never saw Farrell play, my only explanation to this non-sense. Maybe a package of Farrell + Hutson since we’re at it. Trading our best prospects.
Nobody is an untouchable, depending on the return.

LOL at Mesar ahead of Farrell.

Caufield-Suzuki-Bedard
Slafkovsky-Dach-Anderson
Farrell-Beck-Roy
I actually like the line of Farrell - Beck - Roy because I see cutdown ability with offensive upside for secondary scoring, not commentary scoring, from our third line.

But, I also don't think MON will land Bedard, so the top-6 won't really look like that down the line. Dach probably back on the RW of Suzuki's line and the C we do draft in 2023 as the 2nd line C.

Caufield - Suzuki - Dach
Slafkovsky - 2023 draft pick - ???
Farrell - Beck - Roy

Farrell to end the season in MON? Why not? However, depending on how things shape up in Laval, he could be more useful to them and fighting for a playoff spot could be more useful for Farrell than playing in a losing cause in Montreal.

Screw what the fans would prefer to see -- it's about developing our prospects, first and foremost.

If nothing to win in Laval, please, have him play in Montreal...

There is probably no playoffs for Laval anyway, but depending on timing, he might be able to play a few games here to get a feel for the level and finish in Laval.

I agree that Bedard could be replaced in the top 6 by whoever is our top 2023 draft pick, and Anderson could be replaced by a player we trade for, if such exists.

Maybe I"m going to be right that Habs have their Debrincat and Gaudreau. We can confirmed that Caufield looks a better version of Debrincat (much explosive). Farrell play like Gaudreau and Keller... great playmaker, great hands, he looks sooo goood.

If Caufield can dominate at 5"7, why Farrell can"t do that at 5"9?!

The game has evolved with most clutching and grabbing long gone.
Gaudreau is a perfect example of a smaller player that was a mid round pick that became elite.
I agree....why not Farrell?

Yes. Jason Robertson is a good exemple, 2nd rounder... and he is elite. Farrell have elite talent, vision, passing ability, hands looks elite to me. It"s safer to say that he is going to be a good top 6 player in NHL, but with a player like Dach on his line... we can all expect big things for Farrell.

Let's keep in mind that he played an extra year in the USHL before going to the NCAA.
Technically he would be a junior and turns 22 this year.
Does that change your mind on his upside?

Not really. When you compare stats of Farrell and Coronato on same age (because right now Coronato is 1 year more younger), that"s close. So Farrell produce like a 13th overall pick (Coronato)?! That"s encouraging for his potential. But yeah, if we compare at the same age of Gaudreau... it"s a advantage for Gaudreau, but produce in NCAA at 20-21 years old, it"s show that he have solid potential, for sure.

Farrell is a Junior, he took classes during that last year in the USHL

I don’t think it change anything on his upside. Yes he did one more year in the USHL because of covid but i still think he would’ve been at least PPG in his freshman season.

He was a little over PPG last year and this year he’s even better dominating at 21 years old which is really good signs.

He’s on pace for little over 45 points in 34ish games.

Caufield had 52 points in 31 games, at 20 years old, though but it gives an idea.

Farrell is a 4th round pick

Per McGuire, Farrell has nothing more to learn at NCAA. Compares Farrell to be a Caufield type albeit w not as high a production rate.

Hutson will be in the Adam Fox type mold PP QB, should project to have 10-year NHL career, but needs another year at college to physically get bigger & stronger for NHL

I agree with him i would be very surprised if he doesn't sign at the end of his season.

How is Robertson a comparable. He is 6'3". His skating was terrible and somehow he improved. Farrell's only drawback is size.

I don't compare style or whatever, I just said that we can draft elite players in late round. 2nd rounder is not late like 4th rounder, but still not a 1st rounder.
