Prospect Info: Sean Farrell, C/LW, 124th Overall

There’s plenty of room in our line up for Farrell with Caufield in it. Plenty of teams have won cups with multiple key players in their Top-9 that would be considered undersized.

I’d agree we don’t want to end up with any more, as it is a disadvantage in most cases.

I’d rather Sean Farrell in the line up today than Joel Armia, and it’s not close.

We are not at the stage where we need to worry about about an undersized lineup.

All the Habs need to be concerned about right now is acquiring and developing as many quality assets as possible.

Lineup imbalances can be addressed at a later stage, and as long as they have developed enough quality assets, they can always be leveraged in trades down the road to address specific needs.

This is the way of the board.. haven't had a competent offense in decades.. haven't had a legitimate superstar in even longer.. and fans are out here wanting to turf our best prospects because of some height related nonsense.

I think Bergevin made the point that lineup imbalances can easily become crippling.

Farrell also was at the Olympics and the World Championship last year for USA. He had 12 pts in 14 GP total.

He's also the second player in modern USHL history to have a 100+ point season. And if you look at USHL's entire history, he's 7th all time in scoring.

He's currently 4th in PPG in the entire NCAA with 1.47 PPG.
Is he right wing?

Would be fun to se him play for the Habs, at the end of the season.

The risk with Farrel is that he goes to Harvard. The Harvard education is still very prestigious and as a late round pick he probably anticipated graduating. A lot of players do the full 4 years there, or at least 3 and graduate via online or summer classes.

He's got 3 years in and with how Covid has changed things, I'm sure he can do Summer classes over the next few years to get his degree.

LW but I think he plays better when he's on the right side which is where he often is on the PP.

He can do both, due to the COVID he only needs to sign after 2025 season I think.

Farrell needs to be signed before August 15th, 2024 unless he opts to return for a 5th season, which is a new rule put in place due to covid.

He's 21 now and next season would technically be his senior year with Harvard, so I'd be real surprised if he doesn't sign. We may even see him for a few games with Laval or even with the habs before this season ends. He's ready for the next step, the things he needs to work on will be better taken care of with the pro training crew anyway.

Perfect third liner. Perfect.
