It was a vicious cycle - the skaters were on their heels trying to cope with Colorado's forecheck which put additional pressure on Hellebuyck to shut the door, but then he had a bad stretch of play which meant the Jets were blowing leads and then playing from behind, that led to the skaters being even more overwhelmed...which led to more pressure on Hellebuyck which led to more goals against...and on and on into the death spiral.

Lane Lambert led his team to the 32nd best defensive metrics in the league last season, so of course a team that has struggled defensively needs a guy like that to shore them up.

I'm not so sure. It was kind of a stock answer about a key player that is still under contract to the Jets. At least Arniel realizes that the Jets would miss Ehlers' speed if he doesn't return.

focussing on speed was the key to me.
he was probably genuine on Ehlers, but it might not matter. Dreger's making it seem like Ehlers is going to be patient on an extension.
Also some mention of the Jets interest in Necas. I really think the Jets will be taking a step back if they trade Ehlers and re-sign Monahan. Vilardi, and Perfetti makes a slow top 6, overall.
