The Kings need to close this in 4. The Rangers are basically giving up.
Brad Richards postgame: "We have to play the next game, it's on the schedule."
I can't believe any Ranger player would make that comment.
The Kings should put Brad Richards name on the Cup just for turning down their offer.
No professional should make that comment, which reeks of a guy playing for the name on the back, not the crest on the front. It also says alot about why he won't be a Ranger next year. Polar opposite of anything close to a leader and NEVER something you'd hear any King on this team utter.
Thru their very difficult path this playoffs, the first thing I thought of last night, when they got that W was experience. 16 players from this team were on the 2012 team that won the Cup. Since game 1 of the 2012 Playoffs thru last night, they have played close to 70 playoff games together. When you win a championship and are able to retain most of that team, ESP. the leadership group, it's HUGE. Last year they were injury riddled top to bottom and on guts alone and playing for the guy on the bench next to them, they got to the WCF. And they've learned a lot about what it takes to win this run, overcoming adversity, jutting their collective chins out in defiance, resilience , etc.
Last night, all business. No celebration after the win, congrats to Quick and very businesslike march to the lockeroom and very serious , somber post game thoughts (we haven't won anything yet, we still haven't played our best, need to be better, etc.)
The Rangers don't have the group. Trades , guys in, guys out , new faces coming, old ones leaving and very little Cup experience or cohesion, which in adversity is your best weapon. It's all the difference, totally different mindset. Had that been the Kings (and they've done it over and over this year) that got burned by a goal with 1 sec left, they'd have tied the game. They are very even keel, up 2 goals or down 2 goals, same attitude. So much to like about what Sutter has done.
That's why I think they end it Wends. I think they will come out and play their best game, esp in the 1st and dominate, squelch any sparks the Rangers might try.
Just seeing the faces, body language and listening to the post game comments from the Rangers was 360 from the Kings post game when they went down 0-3.
Sometimes, your best isn't good enough, the other team is just the better team. Very few teams have the same DNA as this this Kings team does.
Warriors all...
