Its encouraging to see the Rangers crumble like that in the 3rd. The Kings also upped their play as well. Somethings gotta be done about the PP. One short hander and they almost give up another short hander late in the 3rd. They're getting too fancy, just put the puck on net and good things should happen. I'm glad Mitchell has woken up because Voynov was Randy Jones brutal, so many turnovers. OT goal was a beauty...

Rangers fan here. Just wanted to congratulate you guys on the win. Pretty exciting game, but I had a feeling Williams was going to score. The man is just so clutch. You guys totally outplayed us tonight.

That's gracious of you, but lets be real here: the Rangers speed did surprise the Kings, I think, and you owned the 1st period overall.
Thankfully for us we did adjust :)

Good things, bad things, ultimately a win. It's the Cup Final, so 3 more wins is all that matters. How they do it, who plays well, it doesn't matter.

Don't want to sound to arrogant, but I think this is over in 4 or 5 games. The Rangers generated very little offense outside of three breakaways. The first breakaway was just a dumb and flukey play with Doughty losing the puck and Muzzin falling, the other two were Hagelin showing his world class speed, but the Kings will adjust to that.

When coached right the Kings are almost impossible for anyone to contain, yes the Hawks series went to game 7 OT, but Chicago could only score against the Kings fourth line, which Sutter let happen for 2+ games before finally shortening the bench after the Hawks went up 2-0 in game 7. The Kopitar/Stoll and Carter lines have not only scored but been stellar defensively, and no offense to the Rangers, but they aren't in Chicago's class.

Let's just see how long this Clifford love lasts...

Well as always, consistency on a game to game basis has been the major issue here.

There have been plenty of games where his fans swear he is turning the corner and then in the next game he turns the puck over leading to a goal or punches someone in the head after a whistle.

But whatever they do with Clifford, whoever they play him with, just for the love of God keep him away from Lewis and Richards.

Also, I have to say, the Kings did an awesome job not being fazed by the 1st period.

The Rangers came out with an impressive show of speed that I don't think they were ready for, but they fought back and were dominating by the 3rd period. I think they'll make some useful adjustments in practice and look better in Game 2, hopefully with fewer breakaway chances.

Mitchell was great tonight. So were Clifford, Carter, and of course Williams with the huge play at the end. Kopitar needs to spend the next two days in a hyperbaric chamber. Guy was skating like he had Zucarello in his pants all game, for the second game in a row. And Voynov.... A parking cone tied to Willie Mitchell on the end of a 10 foot rope would be more effective.

Anyway, great win. The Rangers, with 6 days rest and an own goal by us still couldn't win the game. They're ****ed.

Oh, and Ron: How sweet was that ****. Those *******s in 301 thought the game was over after the first period... LAWL.

Thanks for upsetting the hockey gods. If you're not right, we will come looking for you. :sarcasm:

Just calling it like I see it. The Kings are the much better team in all areas except in goal, but Quick is capable of playing at Hank's level.

Can anyone remember the last time the Kings allowed 3 breakaways in one game?

As long as Sutter doesn't do anything stupid I just don't see this series being a very long one. The Kings are just really clicking right now, and if Sutter keeps 13/10/22 away from Kane last series the Kings would have beaten a much much much better Hawks team in 5.

This game was almost like a carbon copy of Game 2 vs. Chicago, but without all the goals in the 3rd.

Pleased to hear these guys weren't happy with their play because they only played well for about half the game. Too many mental breakdowns and guys running around out of position way too much.

Glad to see that they have two days off until the next game, enough time to adjust, reset and recharge those batteries. Would like to see a better start and better execution on breakouts and outlet passes.

They finally got back to their possession game in the 3rd, but once the Rangers got a chance they were of high quality, and Quick bailed them out on more than a few occasions.

The PP also has to be a lot smarter and less cute. Can't believe the Kings got outshot on their PP chances, but I knew heading in the Rangers PK would be dangerous. Guess the Kings didn't get that memo...

Game 2 I want to see the Kings make a statement with their puck possession, execution, and physical play. The Rangers are going to come out flying, so they better be prepared for a battle on Saturday.

You guys think we see any adjustments with the lines or does Sutter go back to his regular looking lineup?

+1000 for this post. Very astute.

Great insights (as I have come to expect) Ziggy and I agree about our PP needing to get it together.

I have to think that we see a change or two next game.
