Yea i saw that too. Its to be expected, NYR fans and media are very self-conscience about they're team and being discredited the way there are in terms of the quality of competition they faced on the east coast vs. what we had to go through. It makes them feel they really have something to prove so losing is really a hit to their ego and pride. They're going to look for something any time they lose as their excuse. The majority will certainly not be willing to except the fact that they may not be as good as us.

Discredited? Like NYR fans thinking Quick is an average goalie because he's gone up against the Sharks, nice depth with Hertl. Ducks, Selanne on a 3rd line. Hawks???

I think it was cute the way NYR was trying to generate chances by going behind the net like the Ducks/Hawks. The Ducks and Hawks generated chances from the back of the net because their offenses kick ass not because Quick has problems following the puck. Didn't mean to compliment the Ducks... just got caught up is all.

NYR stop discrediting the Hawks/Ducks/Sharks offenses. Face the truth. The only threatening chances you had last night were off the rush. Once the Kings limit/take those away you have nothing.

The Power Play... Kings don't need a Power Play to keep up with the Rangers 13% PP...

Last night Quick outplayed Lundqvist. I don't care if Lundquvist save % was higher because the Kings can get shots on the net because of NYR lack of defense.

3 more!!!! Kick em in the teeth!!!

Is Muzzin a legit #2 seeing as he is in the SCF?

Rofl!

And yeah, I'm gonna say it again, especially after watching the replay--QUICK was the man last night. Lots of huge saves. The Pouliot shot was an amazing shot on a breakaway, no shame in that. He stopped the next breakaway, only to be foiled by Voynov. He then had a number of clutch saves throughout the rest of the game, including that 2-on-1 by St. Louis and that breakaway towards the end. Yet, no one can stop praising Lundqvist, even though if any of those shots on "the king" (lower-case on purpose because I'm bitter like that) went in on Quick, there would be a 1-hour media session today about it. Quick was quietly the man last night and if he didn't show up we're not able to have any of these happy conversations.
Chicago just seems to have Quick's number, so now that we're done with them Quick can finally get back to his old self. I think he will get even better as the series progresses and his confidence grows. Plus the two Rangers goals were not even his fault. On the first, Doughty got too cute and Muzzin fell on his ass at center ice. That's not something that is going to happen every game. On the second goal, Quick made the save and Slava deflected it in.

Hank was good, but Quick made the huge saves when he needed to.

I just don't have the time, patience, or most importantly, expertise to do these, but they are ****ing hilarious!

anybody else watching NHL LIVE? or as it seems halfway through the show: NYR LIVE.

The biasedness is extreme... martin biron isn't even trying to hide his biasedness. Where's the KING
specialist?

It's pretty sickening.... i thought the kings won yesterday not the Rangers. Anyway, Maybe they're trying to sell the series to everyone. Ugh.. i like mears and hradek a lot actually but this show today seems highly skewed. There's definitely an agenda here to sell this series.

Gaborik went to both Marian Hossa's and Zdeno Chara's Stanley Cup parties in 2013, 2011. They all live on same street. "I didn't touch it."

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. It's funny that they keep on talking about the first period and that's pretty much it. Ironic focusing on the Rangers forecheck when by games end, the Kings forechecked the hell out of NY. I think Jaffe mentioned it in passing. Or maybe it was Jamal Mayers for a brief moment.

I just hope the Kings keep winning and the silver linings become thinner and thinner for them to focus on. Then they'll be forced to talk about the positives in the Kings game other than the final score.

He was probably that lonely guy in the back of the party.

The KINGS seldom get the recognition they deserve. Even when they beat the Hawks, after each game, rather than focus on what the Kings did right, it was what the Hawks did wrong...
And of course they are all disappointed that the Hawks aren't here, and that Kane had to go back to wearing sandals and fishing off the Sea of Galilee..

And I can't stand Jamal Meyers...he's just awful. Biron is a NY guy as is EJ and they don't hide that. IF you watch NHL live during the year, in the last few minutes they have the games that will be on later and he picks who he thinks will win. Rarely pcks the Kings...

Guys, I'm seeing a 50/50 analysis. Maybe you are discounting the things they are saying about the Kings and you may have preconceived notions about where these guys are from and think they will always be biased.

I bet some NYR fans are upset that they think NHL Live is pumping the Kings.

I've listened to 3 podcasts today.

Marek/Wyshinski
TSN leafs lunch
Sportsnet Hockey Central

It was ALL Kings. 4 hours of it.

This butthurt about some sort of perceived Rangers bias is a total joke. Kings are the media darlings right now.

TSN has been pretty balanced but Leafs lunch was allot of Kings love of course there is also always allot of Rags hate on that show so whatever.

I watch the NYR network and it isn't butthurt, the way they approach the game is from a why the Rags didn't dominate the entire game as opposed to the teams both belonging there. Though from time to time they talk highly about the Kings the majority of the coverage is very pro Rags.

It isn't a big deal but sat radio"s coverage goes back and forth. Most of the time it balances out but the NHL network seems to lean to the east.

Doesn't matter.

I checked out some some TSN podcasts as well and they were all about the kings... It's more of an NHL NETWORK beef I have. The first 15 minutes of the program today when you're expected to hear their basic overview of the game... it was ALL about the rangers first period.. and nothing much about the result or the kings adjustments. Jamal Mayers had extreme blue colored glasses on, i was ready to throw my shoe at the tv. AND he sucks at talking in general, this shouldn't be his job.

I'm no conspiracy theorist but something smells fishy... all other media outlets are not discrediting the kings while the league channel seems ranger-biased to me.

Obviously it's not that big a deal... just sucks for the kings to continually not get the credit they deserve on the NYRNetwork

TOP 5 PLAYS had 3 ranger plays and 2 kings plays.. NONE of the ranked was the JUSTIN WILLIAMS OT goal. THE OT WINNER NOT ON THE TOP 5 LIST?

Was gonna say, i've had pretty limited exposure this afternoon, but it seems like an NHLNet issue rather than the other media. It's almost as if there's an agenda there. Everyone else has been as balanced as it comes, leaning towards the kings even.

I noticed that too.:shakehead

Ej and Mayers were basically apologizing for the Rangers loss. Mayers makes my ears bleed, his first segment was him just stumbling over his words trying to make his point.

Vegas was in the top 10 nationwide for watching the game last night.
http://nbcsportsgrouppressbox.com/2...d-most-watched-stanley-cup-final-game-1-ever/

The rating were really high last night:

The first game of the 2014 Stanley Cup Final between the New York Rangers and Los Angeles Kings averaged 4.777 million viewers, making it NBC’s second-most watched Stanley Cup Final Game 1 ever and the second-most watched Game 1 overall since 1999. NBC won the night in primetime among P18-49 with a 1.9 rating.

LOCAL

New York delivered its best NHL rating ever on NBC/NBCSN with a 10.1 metered market rating, surpassing last week’s 8.5 rating for the Eastern Conference Final Game 6 on NBCSN.

Los Angeles drew a 7.1 metered market rating, ranking as L.A.’s third-best ever on NBC, trailing only Games 5 and 6 of the 2012 Stan

Don't eat the trollbait on the main board, folks.

There are several posters who know exactly what they are doing.

If you start getting PMs, let me or another mod know and put the user on ignore.

Lol. If this was meant for me I'm done. Time to start looking forward to game 2 :yo:

Been seeing tons of people out in Valencia with Kings gear or decals on their cars. Went to the mall just yesterday hours before the game and there were some ladies wearing Kings jerseys (mind you it was almost 90 yesterday and this was outside of a Coffee Bean).

Don't know how many of them are longtime fans or just hopping on the bandwagon, but who am I to judge? The more fans, the merrier, so long as that money goes towards the Kings and they don't buy those cheap, knockoff jerseys from China.

Oh and tons of places out here also carry the games and fill up quite easily with Kings fans. Went to Buffalo Wild Wings for Game 1 against the Ducks and it was packed with fans. Only spotted two Ducks fans in there.

I think that is where my gripe is too but in fairness NHL tonight earlier on had an entire section on us. A friend of mine pointed out as well that the NHL network guys broadcast out of NYC and most of them work in and around the Rags/Isles/Devils in one way or another as well as the NHL network.

They approach the game from that pov and it could have something to do with why things seem to be skewed that way when the hosts themselves may be impartial.

Doc and I have been sending each other humorous PMs regarding the PMs we've been getting.

PMs.

I listen to Hockey Central at noon and Marek and Wyshinski every night and the TSN podcasts (archive) depending on who the guest is. Sometimes ESPN NHJL Radio. I used to listen to the backhand shelf podcast (Justin Bourne and Co, very good stuff).

On the Marek and Wyshinski show today, one scary thing that they related about the kid (not long out of Juniors) who is playing in the NHL and told a friend of his that after the games on the way home driving sometimes he gets nosebleeds and has all year. The friend asked if he told anybody and the kids said 'no way , I don't want to get sent back' That once you're with the big club you have that fear that someone will take your place I guess
This coming from the Dustin Brown denying the trainer after being boarded, who wanted him to go to the quiet room I guess. He told the trainer (on TV and we all say that ) that he was in no uncertain terms leaving the game
Such is the way of the NHL...
