Florida forecheck has been oppressive in these playoffs. Made three consecutive bluelines look bad and I think they were all stronger than what Edmonton has back there. Knob is going to have to scheme up something special to avoid it.

Bennett was traded to the Panthers in 2021.
The Oilers blue line will be fine, one of the best in the NHL at handling pressure and making plays under pressure. And with the size to absorb hits as well to make a play.

Stark difference to the NY rangers blue line. Where guys like Lindgren and Fox would piss their pants at the first sight of a Cat. And Trouba would flub passes even without pressure, cause he just plain sucks.

I thought it was pretty good. I don't expect Oiler fans to like it though .
It just smacks of “Elaine Pettersson” or “Austine Matthews”.

Pretty much the lowest of the hanging fruit.

Imagine thinking the Rangers were good defensively. Fox is a stud but him and Ryan are small boys.

I thought they played well keeping shots to the outside until panthers figured them out

I expected canes to feast on them but they neutralized them pretty well

Oilers defense has surprised me though, very interested to see this play out

I mean the panthers were a division winner so they only could get one win vs one

Odd stat to choose
The Panthers and Oilers are very close their records are Identical since Knoblach took over their goal difference is one 71 gf for the Oilers 70 .For the Panthers in the playoffs. The Panthers are 16 differential, and the Oilers are also 16 but with 3 empty nets against in that stat these teams are so close

You said Bob was “outplayed”, you tried to imply that he hasn’t been all that good this year. Twice.
No you made that implication yourself when that is not even close to what I was implying. I was responding to the idea what Bob has been standing on his head and putting up elite performances in these playoffs, but he hasn't performed better in these playoffs than any of the 3 goalies I listed. Just because you want to try to straw man me (for the 3rd time) by saying that I tried to imply he hasn't been all that good this year is on you not me. Bob has been very good this year, but he hasn't been elite in these playoffs compared to some of the other goalie performances we've seen.

Yeah i got the first part which is interesting, quite the resurgence from both teams with both having rough starts either from coaching issues and injuries.

Just the wins against division winners i thought was weird compared to that

State Florida alone won 5 last eastern conference finals (and two cups out of 4 on top of that).
While all the western teams combined won only 4 western conference finals out 5.

Going for McDavid and the Oilers but deep down I feel Florida takes it, they're hungry after losing last year and the team is built to win, I've seen every Florida and Oilers game these playoffs too.

It's going to be such a close series

If you look at the top 6 of both teams

McDavid, Draisaitl, Nuge, Hyman, Kane, McLeod(?)

Barkov, Reinhart, Tkatchuk, Bennett, Verhaege, Rodrigues

Sure the Oilers have the 2 best offensive guys but Florida's top-6 is pretty damn good. Now if you go further down the lineup, I would say Florida's third and fourth line are definitely better than those of Oilers'. Do you disagree?

Oilers' first D-pairing has been really good for them but after that it's pretty thin compared to Florida. And Forsling/Ekblad, are right up there as the best defensive pair in the playoffs.

If you compare NYR d-core to Oilers', I think it's pretty safe to say that it's better. Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Trouba, Schneider. The Panthers dominated against them and the only thing why it wasn't a 4-0 sweep was Shesterkin, and I'm not even exaggerating. He was absolutely amazing that series. Can Skinner be that in the finals?
Oilers team defence is miles better than NYR and their special teams are as well. The Rangers are a bad 5 on 5 team and were all season.

Edmonton is a very flawed team who has gone on a heater. There is a team like this every year. Due to that, they better take advantage of their opportunity to ride this and win it now. If they don't, their management will most likely look at this team as good enough to win and run it back next year without making any significant changes.

Oilers are Hungrier. We also lost to the Cup champs and gave them a better run for their money than the Cats too.

Not to mention a complete lack of heart and balls on that NYR team. That series was over before it even started. One of the softest Conference finals teams I've ever seen.

Are you so fragile that this guy who is obviously not a hockey writer has published inaccurate information has sent you into a frothing rage? If you are so upset, write to his editor why don't you?

Are we now reduced to ridiculing local reporters who aren't even hockey beat writers and then trying to connect that with the fan base at large?

The only writers who follow hockey down here are david dwork or Jameson olive. Everyone else can be safely ignored.
This isn't even really a hockey related subject. A reporter of ANY kind should get their facts straight. Doesn't matter if he should be assumed to be incompetent like you say.

Hi welcome to 2024 where the information doesn't matter so long as people click on it and stick around long enough for an ad to load.

I provided some names of reputable local writers if anyone was interested in reading something. But nope. I see the pitchfork store had a sale and we're going to continue crucifying a nobody who wrote an article for a publication that abandoned the sport years ago because he boss told him to.

No reason for me to even try to disseminate anything useful here because it is not being reciprocated in good faith.

Enjoy the series.

So you agree that it's trash article by a trash reporter. Then get all mad when it's called out?
