after all I can recall, I'm okay with this. McCauley and O'Halloran are very experienced. Can't recall anything about Watson and Kozari, though.

We won game 1 against the Flyers, Penguins and Habs. Last two on the road.

You see? This game is HUGE...if we win tonight the Cup is ours ;)

I feel the series really hinges on two players as far as the Rangers are concerned. Hank & McD have to raise the level of their play.

This a series that defines Hank as a HOF goaltender. A legacy series no doubt in my mind.

This series will help define if McD truly is not just a very good NHL D man but a Great / Elite D man.

If those two questions are in no serious doubt at the end than the Rangers are almost the certain winners.

The rest of the team just has to continue what they have been doing, with some stand out games from MSL, Kreider, Richards, Brass and Zuuc. Those are the five forwards that could have the biggest impact on the score sheet.

LGR!!

Why would you not wear a dangler?

I'v been a goalie since I was 9 (24 now) and never wore a dangler. Mainly because it would get caught in my chest protector when moving my head side to side as a kid, so I never wore one. Sometimes we (stupidly) put comfort above safety. Same reason players don't want to be forced to wear kevlar socks and stuff.

Eventually found myself at 16-18 playing juniors and eventually in college, taking shots high all the time that would kill. I'm lucky to have never broken my collar bone, although I took some pucks very hard off of it before with severe pain and swelling and bruising so who knows I probably fracture it before.

I wear a soft old school neck guard that straps around my neck, does absolutely nothing for a puck but more to protect against a skate blade.

Definitely risky to not wear one, if I could go back to being 9, I would've tried to get used to wearing it.

Come on boys, we can do it!!! 1 game at a time, 1 period at a time, 1 shift at a time. Let's go Rangers!!!

One thing that scared me last night is seeing the faceoff stats for the playoffs for both teams - ugh, Dominic Moore has been great but Stepan, Brassard and Richards have been really bad. Three of the four Kings centers have been fantastic all playoff long.

Since puck possession is key in this series, we need to win our share of faceoffs.

faceoff wins won't play a huge factor in puck possession IMO.

Guys/gals, you can't quote people from other boards in your own board to mock them. Seriously, read the rules, it takes 45 seconds.

Getting tired of people bringing garbage from other boards onto HFNYR.

On the other hand the Rangers have always been a weak faceoff team and basically go into every game with that as a detriment. It's kind of a known problem that they just deal with...they still beat their other opponents despite that handicap.

Also, apparently some stats suggest that winning faceoffs isn't as big a deal as you'd think it might be unless you're talking about wildly disparate numbers. Like if the Kings are winning 65% of the draws then yeah it could be an issue, but if it's 55-45 then chances are it won't affect puck possession tooo much

I hope you're right - playing this Kings team is going to be a whole different animal from our other series - we'll need every advantage we can get. The Kings defensemen are amazing at getting shots through from the point - both on the power play and at even strength - and their forwards do a wonderful job creating traffic in front of the net for those shots.

If we lose defensive zone draws it can get dicey very quickly.

While not winning tonight is not the end of the series as long as we split in LA, getting the 1st win of the series is a big deal shifting and adding pressure to the Kings squad to win game 2.

If the Rangers can play tonight the way they played in game 6 against Montreal we have a real good shot winning this game.

I'm also starting to get closer to changing my views on the Anything Can Happen stance I have taken.

I'm already nervous.

This afternoon is going to take soooooo long.

yeah I'm actually really interested to see how the Kings D scoring shakes out and if the Rangers system makes a difference. They just got a ridiculous number of seeing eye shots and deflections that turned into goals, you would think a bigger number of those would have ended up blocked. Definitely going to be watching how the Rangers work to take away those shooting lanes

Also, please don't discuss ignore functions. Thanks.

From what I remember Pittsburgh is a good faceoff team....how did that work out for them.

Can't wait for this to start.

I'm very confident that it'll be a good series in terms of competition. I hope to god the Rangers win this first one for the sake of hearing all the nervous backpedaling that will be going on.

If the Rangers win tonight, The LA fans will think twice. Their team will shrug it off. LA was down 3-0 and 3-1 this postseason, and down in the 3rd period in game 7 on the road.

We are going to have to close out games....and finish them. They will not be an easy out. In saying that, we aren't an easy out either.

Is it 8pm yet?

From how they're playing right now and in the post-season, Kings>>>Penguins. What worked against Pittsburgh may not go so well against LA.

Quick is not Fleury, and LA has depth Pittsburgh can only dream about.
