Blue Jays Discussion: Save some runs for the other games, guys. (Jays score team record 28 runs in Friday night drubbing of Red Sox. Yes, that says 28. In one game)

I don't follow the draft a ton but I see quite a few mocks having Kumar Rocker floating around where the Jays are going to pick.

I'd say f*** it and pull the trigger on taking him there. Could be an interesting add given him essentially starting in pro ball a year ahead of his contemporaries could make him a fast track option to help the team sooner rather than later.

Injury concerns in mind, do you like to gamble, Mr. Atkins? Because I like this idea even if's potentially super high risk/reward.

If they want to fast track him as a bullpen option then sure, why not.

My big concern is that even if the Mets are the Mets, it usually takes a significant scare for a team to not just lower the contract offer on a prospect but actually back out entirely. For them to go "nope, we'll take the compo pick, thanks." makes me think we're looking at an extreme ticking time bomb sort of situation. So much so that I wonder if making him a starter at all would be an untenable idea.

I didn't notice anything here, but on Twitter it was reported that the Tigers have DFA'd Daniel Norris. As much as I'm guilty of still getting caught up and right now the Tiedmann hype is exciting and all, it's the friendly, regular reminder of TINSTAAPP being a thing.

I was all for Rocker with our first pick but he skipped his last 2 starts. Which I’m sure is nothing, had 5 great starts and with his history didn’t want to risk getting hurt before the draft. But he last pitched on July 1st and with his injury history, using a first on him could be a risk.

Gladly take him with a 2nd or compensatory pick.

I would actually rather have Misierowski than Rocker right now. Looser more flexible build, comparable stuff, better shape and spin on fastball, and elite extension.

He's not talked about much at our pick but I really like Drew Gilbert. I don't think he'll be a star but I see a really good player who will help a team win.

I didn't realize the top name on the board is Andruw Jones' son. I'm old enough to remember his actual prime...

Also find it amusing his name is just his pops name...just shorter and spelled the same way lol. Drew? No, there is only Druw.

The score's mock has Rocker going to the Angels...which actually seems like the most Angels pick possible. Be enticed by the big name only for it to turn out Rocker's arm is dust by time he turns 26 and the Angels still have no top flight starters once Ohtani leaves.

angels red sox and yankees seems to be connected through the mocks to rocker

this interviewer is a smoking redhead

I think there's a 80% chance the Jays take either Delauter or Toman at our pick versus the rest of the field. Just hearing their names connected to us too much to ignore. Same thing happened in the past with Warmoth, Pearson, Manoah, etc.

MLB comparison: Dansby Swanson.

That doesn't seem like a particularly glowing comp for a #1 overall pick since Dansby was largely meh more often than not.

Jackson's dad is super smart with swing technique and shit like that though given Matt Carpenter credits Matt Holliday (and Joey Votto) with tweaking his swing and letting him hang at the MLB level again

Man. I loved Matt Holliday as a player. Unreal hitter.

I was looking at reports. Do you think he could be a Corbin Carroll type prospect without the elite defense?

I would have gone Jones if I was Baltimore. Seems like his attributes project to be better...like way better than Holliday. At least according to ESPN.

That clip of him taking a shit on the crowd for calling him overrated is amazing though.
