Blue Jays Discussion: Save some runs for the other games, guys. (Jays score team record 28 runs in Friday night drubbing of Red Sox. Yes, that says 28. In one game)

Yes, and many other things. He says a LOT of things. Not a good human.
I believe he's now a conservative media personality. One of the best games I've been to is sitting right behind the bullpen talking trash to him all game when he played for the Rays.

As for the draft. I'm not going to pretend I know anything more than what people like McDonald, BA and MLB prospect says about them, but getting Toman (if we can sign him) this late is promising considering I'd seen him linked to us at 23.

Fangraph Rankings;
25. Brandon Barriera (drafted 23rd)
36. Josh Kasevich (drafted 30th)
48. Case Doughty (drafted 78th)
54. Tucker Toman (drafted 77th)

This is a great draft so far.

Toman is definitely overslot. Barriera seems likely overslot, possibly significantly. The other 2 guys doesn't seem like there'd be major savings, perhaps some, perhaps slot. Probably some significant underslot picks tomorrow. How many is the question.

I think everybody here has their phraseology wrong.

You need to pay extra if players are taken “under slot”

Jays took a lot of under slot players tonight.

2.39 million underslot. 4th round slot of 560k means they can take Porter and offer him about 3 million which is roughly slot at 23. He was ranked 11. Possible they might need savings elsewhere to get it done

Kumar got taken over slot. He is being paid under slot.

Few, if any teams, are as good as the Tampa Bay Rays at turning seemingly unremarkable players into useful everyday regulars or outright stars. As such, anyone who second guesses their decision-making does so at their own peril.
And yet...Xavier Isaac at No. 29? Really?
An 18-year-old first baseman out of East Forysth High School in Kernersville, North Carolina didn't even crack the top 100 of MLB.com's list of the top prospects for this year's draft. He did for Baseball America, but only barely at No. 92.
    Editor-in-Chief JJ Cooper explained why:
    JJ Cooper@jjcoop36
Rays pick Xavier Isaac ranked No. 92 on the BA 500. Massive raw power but a first base only profile.

When I have studied this, taking HS position players who didn't play during the summer showcase in the first round is very risky demographic. Isaac had a foot injury last summer.
To be fair, it's not hard to imagine how this pick might pan out for the Rays. At 6'4", 220 pounds, Isaac is obviously built for power. If he fully taps into that while also developing his on-base skills, he'll be a dangerous offensive threat.
"Tremendous raw power, but I think we see a hitter with power," scouting director Rob Metzler told the media, including Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. "I would single out just his ability to use the whole field, to cover the whole plate, with tremendous strength.''
It's a fair question, though, whether the Rays had to draft Isaac so high. With the No. 65, 70 and 71 picks also in hand for Day 1, they perhaps could have waited to scoop him up.

Why did they have to write this? Issac is going to be the best baseball player every to play the game now and play basketball in the offseason and break all of Jordan’s records then become the President of the USA, cure world hunger and bring back Mountain Dew Code Red.

I was in on Kasevich back in late May. Hit tool is definitely a major strength with him, just need to see him tap into some more power. If we’re comparing guys to our current prospects he’s a more ironed out Leo Jimenez.

Plus Ryan Cermak at 71? This guy is going to haunt us for years.
