Blue Jays Discussion: Save some runs for the other games, guys. (Jays score team record 28 runs in Friday night drubbing of Red Sox. Yes, that says 28. In one game)

depends how much over slot the last pick comes in at
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. But the Jays only get to reallocate the slot money to Barriera if they sign a guy under slot... if they fail to sign a guy altogether, the slot money just goes away. So when people talk about "punting" a pick, they mean drafting a guy who would normally be drafted late so they can sign him for cheap and give the rest of his money to Barriera.

Nice value for that draft point.

Figured Baltimore would take an SS.

They juiced our boy for power lmao. Looks like I found my new catcher.

Kind of sad all the best college outfielders are gone. Was hoping to potentially get one of them. Except Jud Fabian but I'm afraid of his high K-rate. I don't think that would be a route the Jays go

Brock Porter also interesting but likely will be expensive at 60. Would be nice to get Toman, Porter or maybe Melton.
He's ranked 11 on MLB.com would would be slot for almost 5 million. If we go overslot for our 1st rounder we're already out of room to offer Porter 5 million even if we signed every other pick for a dollar. 5 million might be pushing it but I don't see how we'd have room for him.

Ya, doubt they go Fabian unless it is one of 77 or 78 and he just accepts slot or even under. Last year he had the option to go back to school, but maybe he just realizes he needs to sign now and get to work in an organization.

Ya, he would need to take a lot less and the rumor of Barriera being overshot would also need to be bogus. Hopefully just going to get Toman, which seems like good value anyways.

That sure is interesting. Would assume overslot, but if the Jays were punting 60 to pay for it they would just pick him 60 instead since he's ranked well above that. Which suggests perhaps they get someone decent at 60 as well?

I'm not going to pretend i know shit about value in the MLB draft but the 35th overall prospect per MLB.com in Toman potentially falling to us at 60 seems...good?

Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 40 | Run: 50 | Arm: 55 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50

The University of Oregon has produced some solid offensive talent in recent years, with outfielder Aaron Zavala going in the second round in 2021 and infielder Spencer Steer being selected in Round 3 in 2019. It’s Steer who comes up the most when talking about Kasevich, a talented shortstop for the Ducks who came off a very successful summer as one of the best hitters in the wood bat Northwoods League and continued to show outstanding bat-to-ball skills this spring.

Kasevich has the chance to be a solid hitter from the right side of the plate at the next level. He has outstanding plate discipline and makes a ton of contact, walking nearly as much as he struck out at Oregon in 2021 and more than he struck out during his time in the Northwoods League. He uses all fields well and while he’s definitely hit over power, there is the chance he could grow into a little more pop in the future.

While he’s just an average runner, Kasevich has every chance to stick at shortstop and is considered perhaps the best defender in the Pacific Northwest. His arm is above-average and very accurate and he has excellent hands and footwork to go along with it. All of his skills play up because of his instincts and if his bat continues to come along, he could go in the top three rounds just like Steer did a few years ago.

not excited about this one. Seems like a defence first guy. Hopefully, I'm wrong but seems like a potential super utility ceiling kind of guy.
