he was ranked teens. most thought he would be gone by mid to early teens. but geographically its perfect for us we have our spring training center in florida and such, manoah and bichette off season training in the general location could rocket through the minors ala manoah as well

Pure upside with this pick and good argument it's BPA too. His comments indicate he'll sign.
Unsurprisingly, expectation is he’ll sign for a lot overslot. Makes me wonder whether they will target some quick moving possible bullpen pieces with their second round picks to save money.

Curious if the signing over slot rumours is because he was telling other teams that so he would fall to us ala Bichette. Guess we will see when he signs if we had something in place.
In baseball you have to use your prospects or lose them since players can be plucked in the Rule-5 draft after a handful of years in the minors. No point endlessly hoarding everyone in baseball and so far none of Hoglund (still recovering from TJ) Martin and Woods-Richardson have done anything to make us regret moving them.
