I just think he's at home enjoying his newborn and real life has been taking a priority for him.

Before his injury he was 0-5 with a WHIP of almost 2.

Last year and the year before he's done quite well. I guess I just remember "The Lean Years" Cecil.

I guess I want Sanchez in the pen (and said so Opening Day) ... so I play up the weakness in our pen. I don't think this is going to be a good year for Cecil.

That calf injury from last year seems to have impacted him IMO.

I'm not saying he can't turn it around, I just don't see it happening ... or more importantly ... it's far from a guarantee and we need Sanchez in the pen.

So you're attributing a decline to him having a child and remembering him as a starter?

2016 Cecil 0-5 with a WHIP of almost 2.

I'm making my predictions, you make yours.
So you think he instantly returns to 2015-2016 form ?
Sure, I love the idea. I just dont see it.

Ross Atkins on moving Aaron Sanchez out of the rotation - "As long as things are trending upwards, there will be no reason to move him out".

And they are trending downwards.

I don't see him keeping an 80% contact rate over the rest of the season, or a swinging strike % under 10%. Believing a .354 average on a .421 BABIP against Cecil is anyway sustainable is foolish. Need I remind you that 16 appearances is roughly a quarter mark of his sample work in an average season of relief. Not to mention that an ERA of 5.23 in 10.1 innings can be lowered significantly in say, 5 appearances.

I never said his WHIP won't have some regression towards the mean.
I'm just saying he seems to be struggling and I'm not sure he can be relied upon.
I'd love to be wrong.

I can't see them playing tonight.

Sportsnet just had a shot from Coors. The hallway leading to the Rockies clubhouse is completely flooded.

It's possible, that's normal in that stadium. But it sure didn't look good.

Lol to major league salaries. Osuna is by far the best making a fraction of everyone else.

Awesome to see Tulo homer back at Coors Field. That 4th inning was fantastic. Not so pleased with Happ's pitching tonight, but his bunting has been top notch.

Need to get this win. The bleeding' gotta stop. The team was doing so well prior to this current slump.

This is awesome. I hate the idea of capping someone's innings when there are no signs of wear/fatigue.

I understand that he may eventually move back to the pen, but it should be based on actual evidence rather than an arbitrary cap.

Interesting.

Cecil is pure wild card.
10% he'll be awesome.
90% he's not going to do well.

Posts like this are hilarious. It's like they've never seen Cecil pitch. He was way worse last year to start the season and must have been terrible the rest of the way right?

%90 chance he will be terrible, a number that appears out of thin air.

Not sure where people come up with this stuff.

yep, Chris Archer should also move to the pen.

actually, with Archer and Price being 2 pitch pitchers, it actually makes more sense for them, though still no sense.

and anyways, every team in baseball has bigger concerns in their rotation than marcus stroman.
