Not really. Too many games left.

I agree, if it were late September then it would be huge for Boston and Baltimore to lose, but the season has barely begun. That's why it was crazy a month ago fans were saying blow up the team, fire Gibbons etc.

another popular trade target is padres center fielder jon jay, who entered friday hitting .292 with an nl-leading 22 doubles. Don’t be surprised if the red sox, royals, and blue jays take an interest in him.

I doubt we go after an OFer. Where would he play? We don't really need any position, except maybe a first baseman.

When was the last time the Jays had the highest paid player (AAV) in the league? My only hint is: it can be at any time during the year (ie during the season or offseason).

Clemens had the highest AAV for a pitcher ($8.25M) when he signed, but still trailed Griffey and Albert Belle overall

Makes sense.

I'll go with Joe Carter, then. Teams have always paid exorbitant amounts for power.

I guess Carlos Delgado during the 2000 season. Before ARod signed his monster deal

Smart... I glossed over Delgado because he didn't get expensive until the year A-Rod's first big contract started, but as long as he signed his contract first, it should be him.

All depends where they are, and how he's doing. What if they could get a pitcher for him?
I highly doubt it happens too but I wouldn't rule it out completely

If the team is doing well, he won't be traded.

What kind of pitcher? A starter to replace Sanchez? The calibre of starting pitcher that other competing teams would be willing to give up wouldn't come close to off-setting the loss of Bautista.

Yeah you're probably right
