Can't help but feel a little pissed off. At the fact that it looks like Matthew Poitras will be heading back to Guelph after the WJC. Even though he's 0.50 PPG at the NHL level. Meanwhile Shasha Pastujov has 3 Assists in 11 AHL games and he won't be sent back.

That’s a little different case. Pastujov would be playing as an overager if he came back, very rare to see high drafted and signed players that lit up the OHL as a 19 year old get sent back for their overager year. Poirtas would be playing as a 19 year old if he got sent back not an overager. I think Poirtas goes back to Boston after the world juniors since he’s already played 9 NHL games which burns his first year of his entry level contract.

According to a Sportsnet story , The Athletic says Boston is keeping him up after World Juniors. Looks like Voit up with Marlies after getting 8 pts in 5 games with Growlers. Would have been nice to see Voit and Pasta pour in the points with the Sting , but life goes on

Re Pasta, Voit, et al… These guys are living life, making money. Think they want to come back to the billet life??
The Sting are doing exactly as we should have expected - winning when they work hard and catch a couple breaks, losing when they let up a bit.
Talent is thin; but they’re doing ok against all but the best teams.
I’m just so glad the current management is going all out every few years, rather than the persistent mediocrity of the Ciccarelli years.
In for the long haul…. Go Sting.
Merry Christmas to all. Haven’t had much to say this year, but enjoying your commentary.

I go back & forth in my mind on what I'd like to see them do. Whole heartedly agree the last 7-8 years with new ownership has been FAR better than the previous 23.

But I must say after watching WSR have back 2 back tremendous regular seasons, LDN beat us then be positioned to go again, MISSY loaded up for multiple years, KIT go for it then somehow be even better this season it's frustrating.

I know it's very hard to build multiple years of Championship caliber teams but we've NEVER done it. So disappointing everytime we are elite it lasts about 3-4 months then we have to endure 2 seasons of this level of hockey.

Especially seeing the fan support last year & now this year. Hasn't been this good since the early 2000s & they'll probably lose a fair amount coming bottom 4 & not be very good next year either. Then as I mentioned a few weeks back I'm not sure 25-26 is the year we should go for it looking at our roster.

But I'm a believer in Seca & Letang. Think they're the best HC/GM combo we've had in a long, long while.

Definitely miss the win countdown from last season you did haha. Easily the most fun time it was being a Sting fan. Fingers crossed we are in for some more runs like that soon & not in 30 years.

you have said before that there is some sort of curse with 2nd and 3rd round picks in sarnia, maybe a change up of those making the picks is needed.

this year seca will trade everything he can, as he should, otherwise you will have 30 years of medicore play.

2nd and 3rd round picks since Seca as GM in Sarnia...

Matthew Morden - No show.
Ryder McIntyre - Traded to OSH for 8th and Cooper Way.
Ben Lalkin - Literally disappeared one day.
Alexis Daviault - Apart of Kyrou trade with Erie.
Sean Doherty - On team now as 4th liner...looking like a bad pick in the 3rd rd.
Carsen Campbell - Traded to KIT for a 5th and 8th.
Jame Barr - On team now, playing great and coming into his own already as a 16 yo.
Lane Sim - On team now, 3rd-4th line mins, was hurt for a bit, will be a project but the potential is there.

sim was an ownership decision based on the dads relationship. not sure you want to put that on the scouting staff.

seca was the director of player personnel, he was there as well, most of the time outside of the 1st pick the player personnel/director of scouting makes the picks.

To be fair. Morden did interviews with the observer, Terry Doyle etc on how excited he was to be drafted here. Idk what happened but I think it caught Sarnia by surprise.

Perfectly fine with McIntyre pick. Big kid who could skate & had some skill. Project pick u hope pans out. Obviously didn't.

Lalkin I cut slack cause covid year. Daviault was a good 3rd Rd pick. Doherty not so much. Campbell a fine 3rd Rd pick I'd say.

Barr looks promising. Sim TBD.

Who knows what it's been. They've been awesome at picking in rounds 4-10. Been fairly solid at RD1. But RD2 in particular has been atrocious. Makes no sense. If they can get a 2nd this yr hopefully can make it 2 years in a row getting a solid pick there after Barr last yr

Maybe for those 2 rounds hahah. RD1 & RD 4-10 they've done pretty well. Have had a lot of success in the mid to late rounds. Have done well in the U18s in comparison to almost everyone else.

Hopefully they've put some emphasis on hitting better in those rounds cause it's been killer in past years missing on them.

Speaking of the draft, one good thing for Sarnia is they are looking solid on D for years to come they can really focus on F.

Obviously still wanna get a couple D in the system to go with what we have, but for the rebuilding stage D is miles ahead of F. Depending on how Chartier, Maillet do post Christmas might need to take a G, too.

Can really start to build a great young nucleus if they hit on some Fs to go with Brown, Hall, Lominac, Sim, Luecke, Beamish, Denney (hopefully they can be solid OHLers), top 10 import pick to go with Fischer, Barr, Hurt, Bridgewater, Young on D.

I was wondering about Lalkin the other day - He has 49 points in 22 games with Markham (Jr B). Do the Sting still have his rights? If so, I'd certainly give him another shot. Anyone who's more than a 2 PPG player in Jr B as an 18 year old should deserve a shot. I'm not sure about the circumstances of him leaving the team though - his choice? The Stings?

Some Sting fans seem aggrieved that their NHL drafted players aren't back for OA seasons.... this is expected in this league. Far rarer for a 19 year old like Poitras yo "stick" when the options are NHL or OHL. Let it go and focus on who you've got.

The only reason Pastujov even came to the OHL was to work on his skating with Barb Underhill in Guelph. So either be grateful you got him for half a season, or pissed with the trade/that we got Namestnikov. Can't have it both ways.

MSN

Voit left his Marlies debut 6 minutes in with an injury. Hopefully it's nothing too serious, It makes me wonder if his size will keep him from cracking the Leafs lineup.

I wonder if this may finally convince Toronto to send him back. Let him heal and dominate the OHL for the rest of the year and let him put on some weight for next season. He's clearly still to small for pro just yet.

Sending him back to the OHL/Sting for 30 games is not going to bulk him up and or heal him to be ready for pro hockey. He can do that in the minor pros just as easily but I don't blame you for the wishful thinking!

What would you send the sting?

Rangers got 2nd, 2x3rds, 5th for the twins a year ago.

Sting got the twins for 5th, 6th, 14th, 15th. Peanuts really.

If the Rangers wanted the twins, I’d assume the cost would be somewhere in the middle?

But do the Rangers want the twins? And do they want both? Can they be split up? Would either want to come back to Kitchener? Especially if they’re to be moved, another contender may appeal to them more since they’ve “been there done that” in Kitchener.

Well over the last week or so. I've been thinking about what the Sting should do this year's deadline. And if I'm Seca looking at r lack of high end skill and a lack of picks. If I'm Seca I'm calling every team and letting them know everyone is up for grabs. Except for my untouchables. Which to me would be Fischer Brown, Maillet and Chartier. Might as well do an entire rebuild since there's a good chance we won't make the playoffs. And might as well load up on as many picks as we can.

Sold out crowd tonight. Not gonna get many more wins post TDL. Be nice to get this one vs LDN. Love Brown-Wainwright together.

Would've started Chartier personally. Can see this one being chippy. Should be fun!
