Thomas and Cooksey played each other tonight. Thomas' team won 4-1. A goal for Thomas and an assist for Cooksey.

Cooksey is an absolute stud. Been watching the games & holy smokes the kid is nasty. 7 Points in 2.2 games & he's just making some of these guys look silly. Been compiling some clips (couldn't get his goals from yesterday as for some reason it isn't watchable.) His assist tonight was unreal. Destroyed the Dman with a huge hit, got it toe dragged the other Dman than backhand pass backdoor for a tap-in.

Still have to wait & see how it'll translate to the O but from a pure skill standpoint there isn't more than 2or3 guys on this team who could match his stick handling or creativity. Think there's a real chance they found themselves a gem. Very excited to see him in September.
Just saw the assist from Cooksey. Man what a great play! Thomas' goal was a beauty. Just ripped one top corner! Have you gotten a chance to watch any of Thomas? If you have what your thoughts on him?

Honestly been a bit disappointed. Offensively he has some great skills for a guy his size but defensively he has a long way to go. Doesn't use his size much at all & gets caught flat footed quite a bit just from the two games I saw. Was rather turnover prone too.

He still has some solid upside considering he's 6'5" & skates well combined with good offensive skills but I don't see him making the team with how weak he looks defensively. Be nice if he'd play for the Legionnaires so Sarnia could be a bit more hands on but I doubt that happens.

Cooksey with a goal and Thomas with an assist today. With a win today Notre Dame (Thomas' team) sits at 2-1-1 meaning they'll likely qualify for the semifinals on Saturday. Cooksey's team, the Mississauga Reps, sit at 1-2-1 and will need to win their final game tomorrow afternoon to qualify for the semifinals on Saturday. Cooksey's game is at 1:30PM tomorrow and Thomas' is at 5PM tomorrow.

Find it interesting Moldenhaur is yet to sign with a NCAA team. Was reported back in February he was close to a decision & here we are in mid may with nothing.

Not gonna hold my breath but if he hasn't by the NHL Draft that could make it interesting for us. With Hatcher/Legwand/Staubitz/Larose/Haley all former NHLers with connections if the right team picks him might up our chances considerably.

I found that interesting too. Of course now that we say that he'll committ to an NCAA program tomorrow.

Cooksey another assist today on tying goal. In OT had 2 breakaways because of his speed then drew a penalty but somehow never scored. Kid has skill & speed for days.

I was watching a bit today too. He was definitely the most dangerous player on the ice. You're absolutely right he has tons of speed and skill. Also how did the Vancouver goalie stop his shootout attempt?

Went to the rookie camp thing today. Was a bit different than usual as they didn't scrimmage. Was more up tempo drills then did a 2v2 / shootout at the end. They had a Vegas Golden Knights skills coach there which was cool.

Martone's shot is lethal. Kid can pick corner or blow it right by the goalie. Wouldn't surprise me if he pushes for 20+ Goals as a rookie given proper ice time. Soft hands too.

Sean Doherty listed at 6'0" now (up from 5'10") & looks it. Fun blend of skill & speed. Player who immediately grabbed my attention was our other 3rd rounder, Carson Campbell (D). He skates just like Supryka (style/agility/speed) which for a 16 yr old is very impressive & promising. They did some walking the line drills & you could tell Letang liked him alot.

In general our Dmen from this class look very promising. David Green has a similar build to Dillingham but is a bit more agile & has a big shot. From what I've read is also physical. Nathan Omeri many thought was a steal & he just looks like a lot of fun from the backend. Great skater & has some nice hands & has a pretty nice shot (went bar down 2or3 times)

Aidan Long was there (U18 USA pick) he definitely has some interesting tools. Big/skates well with a big shot. Needs some refining but could be a solid player. Know he's a big time lacrosse player so that might be a tough decision coming for him.

Telus Cup semifinals today. Thomas' team plays at 6:30PM. Cooksey's team plays at 10PM.
Cooksey with a ridiculous goal to tie it at 2. Flat flooted in the neutral zone he makes a move around one, gathers speed quickly down the LW then from the goal-line goes top shelf.

I saw the goal too. Incredible play! Now down 4-2 after 2. Let's see if he has any magic left in him.

A heartbreaking loss for Mississauga. They come back from two separate 2 goal deficits and tie the game with just under a minute to go but Moncton would score in OT to win 6-5. Cooksey was excellent once again. He lead the comeback scoring 2 goals and picking up an assist. He finished the tournament with 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) in 6 games. I'm really excited to see him at training camp!

Two highlight reel goals & an assist where he completely dusted the D. He put that team on his back all week but especially in this game to get them to OT vs undefeated moncton. That was some ridiculous stuff. I am trying not to get excited, but god damn he put on a show this week. VERY excited too see him in August/September at camp. He has some wild upside.

If these two forwards we got at the U18 draft show up and live up to expectations, camp is going to be so competitive especially when we might be adding an Import forward and hopefully get moldenhauer or an American to report. Could be alot 2,3 or 4 forwards off this years roster traded out for draft picks. A lot of guys will be fighting for their jobs that’s for sure.

Anyone have roster predictions including if moldenhauer or Perreault report, if Cooksey shows up or makes the team. If we pick a forward at the import draft. If degelas makes the jump, which guys do you think will be getting traded or released to make room. And line combinations.

Hard to predict but here's my best guess:

Voit-Import-Dann
Burke-Namestnikov-Sikic
Filak-MacDonell-Martone
Cooksey-Wainwright-???

McIntyre, Doherty, Lalkin, Vogelsberg, Harper, Degelas all fighting for a spot. If they don't make the starting 12 id assume McInytre/Lalkin/Vogelsberg would all be shopped around for spots to play. Wait & see with Moldenhauer or Perreault. Moldenhaur would probably be their 1C if he signed & make the need for in import C not as necessary.

Mast-Ritchie
Daviault-Dillingham
Romeo-Malyavin
MacDonald

I like where they are at on D. Ritchie should be a stud OA. Mast has all the tools to be a shutdown D. Daviault had a great rookie yr so hopefully takes a step. Dillingham a rock. Romeo was actually solid down the stretch & in round one. Year older, stronger & maybe hes actually dependable. Malyavin has good upside as does MacDonald who id be more than fine playing if they go elsewhere with Malyavin.

Gaudreau, gonna be an animal if the playoffs were any indication which I think they were.

I'm cautiously optimistic (because its Sarnia) about that roster. Id say its realistic to expect, Voit 85+ Points, Dann 35+ Goals, Burke 30+ Goals, Namestnikov 50+ Points, Sikic 50+ Points, Filak/MacDonell 17-22 Goals apiece, Martone 15-20 Goals, Cooksey/Wainwright would be a boat load of fun & upside for a line 4. Be one of the fastest F groups in the league. Defence should be solid with some legit offensive upside W/Ritchie, Daviault, Malyavin, Mast. Then possibly the best goalie in the league.

My prediction is:
Voit Moldenhauer Dann
Namestnikov Import Sikic
McDonnell Filak Burke
Martone Wainwright Cooksey
Vogelsburg Degelas

I would trade Hill, lalkin and McIntyre for as much as we can get and send Harper back to the legionnaires.

Mast Ritchie
Daviault Romeo
Malyavin Dillingham
Macdonald

Try and trade Pryce or release him.

Gaudreau
Grover

Trade Thornton for as much as we can get.

Moldenhauer would make this team a contender. Hopefully he signs I have a feeling he will.

No real reason just a feeling I guess. He hasn’t committed to NCAA yet and he’s had 2 years to do so, and we haven’t had the best luck compared to some teams in the league landing the big fish. I just think it was a big swing by Seca and I think it’s going to pay off for him and I think it’s our turn to get some luck landing some higher end talent. I hope it works out for Seca!

Kyrou been the best player on the ice tonight in game 6 vs Colorado. His playoff performance (vs wsr/kit) will always boggle my mind but it's awesome to see him flourishing. One of the better players to come thru here the last 15 years & is gonna be a star for St Louis for awhile.
