On D

Ritchie had 38 points but a 45 point pace with us. OA, better team, better PP (hopefully) id hope for 55-70.

Mast had a 35 point pace had he stayed healthy. Was clearly not 100% when he returned also. BOS saying hes made a big jump. Assuming he's PP2 id hope for 45-55.

Daviault had 21in59. Should play T4 all year, hopefully play PP2 w/Mast. I'd say im hoping for mid to high 30s.

Not expecting a ton from the other 3. Maybe like 25-30 from Romeo, 15-25 from Dillingham & 5-15 from MacDonald.

I don't think 50 goals from the blueline this season is out of the question.

Ritchie will hit 20+ running PP1 and playing naturally as a top 2.
Mast 15-18.
Daviault 10-13
Dilly 3-5
Romeo 3-5
MacDonald 2-3

Also, this past year we had 3 yrs of rookies (03s, 04s and 05s) and thus some shaky d play and goaltending.

But in the years prior to Covid, the top conference teams also scored approximately 300 goals. So maybe 300 is the benchmark for the top scoring team each year.

I don't think 50 goals from the blueline this season is out of the question.

Mast 15-18.
Daviault 10-13
Dilly 3-5
Romeo 3-5
MacDonald 2-3
50 goals from a good d corp is definitely doable.

I have some pretty high expectations for our defence. If you remember up until the teams covid bout in early January they were one of the better 5on5 teams. I remember the Soo coach (believe it was him) being complementary of our 5on5 play.

We allowed 2.3 goals a game 5on5 in our first 34 games. Which isn't elite but for the youngest team in the league it was pretty impressive. Our PK was about mid-pack. Then everything fell apart because our schedule became absolutely loaded cause of the postponements. To make matters worse Mast got hurt, Malyavin got hurt, Dillingham got hurt (for almost 2 months) + Reesor departure, Romeo got suspended then inevitably Ritchie & Daviault ran out of gas due to the amount they played. Like christ we ran 4D (one being MacDonald!) for like 3 weeks.. The PK absolutely plummeted to the bottom of the league during that time as well.

Once they all returned & we got some days off our 5on5 got back to where it was. Final 6 Regular season games + the 6 playoffs games we allowed only 2.1 5on5 goals per game & the PK suddenly became awesome especially vs Windsor. Let's hope they keep that aggressive style system on the PK to start the yr.

I loved how they defended vs WSR 5on5. They were aggressive, physical, allowed no space & really used Mast's, Romeo's, Dillingham's length & reach. Moved it well by just being simple & smart. I don't expect that level of intensity, physicality during the season because u cant sustain that but they showed they can play like that & do it well vs a stacked WSR team. Add in another yr of maturity, training, development & they should be one of the better defensive units. Not to mention that Gaudreau guy behind them should help.

Great post. I read the first sentence and immediately had flashbacks of us talking about how good we thought our D was going to be last year lol. But when you look at it from the perspective you have given, you can see how and why they never lived up to those expectations. Big difference this year is no one is new. This is the exact same D core going into this year, but with an added year of experience. The result this year, should be dramatically different.

Have been watching Latvia's games at the World Juniors & despite not registering a point I come away pretty excited for Vilmanis & what he'll add to the team. What I've seen from him:

He moves extremely well for a big guy & his top speed is impressive. He almost always keeps his feet moving & where i've noticed that the most is in the D-Zone. He's always ready to turn on the jets the moment Latvia gets possession of it & that has to keep the D honest because odds are u aint catching him if they get it to him. Obviously that has a downside as he tends to cheat/flee the zone before they have 100% control of it. But he seems to judge it fairly well.

He absolutely loves gathering speed thru the neutral zone so by the time he's entering the O-Zone he is flying & u combine that with his size & it gives Dmen real trouble. He doesn't have elite puck skills but he definitely has hands. Has pulled off a few nice toe-drags in tight & some nice dekes to avoid hits when he is flying down the wing.

He's been real good on the forecheck with his speed, length & has shown a good willingness to throw the body & on the flip side take a hit to make a play. His board play is definitely a strength as he doesn't lose many battles so I look forward to having him, Sikic, and Martone all on separate lines (potentially) as well as Filak Burke & hopefully an improved McIntyre.

Haven't seen his shot a ton but u can tell it packs a punch. He rang one off the post in todays game & had a couple ones labeled top glove but the CZE goalie made two nice saves. Like in the D-zone he keeps his feet moving & u can tell he knows where to go to score or be an option for his line mates offensively. I think he'll be rewarded for doing that much more with Voit or Namestnikov on his line compared to his current linemates as Latvia plays an incredibly safe game & clearly wanna make as few mistakes as possible with the skill gap being rather large tho they did finally win a game so good on em & hopefully they give USA or Sweden a run for their money in the QFs.

Other teams are announcing dates so I imagine we will be too any day now.

Pre season rosters are out & there are some interesting guys not on the roster. Assuming it's accurate Josh Vogelsberg, Brayden Degelas, Cole Cooksey & Ryan Pryce aren't on the roster.

Bit surprised Vogelsberg isn't. Cooksey i think might be going a different route which absolutely sucks. Was really excited to see him. Confused y Degelas wouldn't as he's already re-signed with the Legionnaires so clearly wants to play here.

Even if he wouldn't of made the team you'd think they'd have him in for camp to see him up close & see how he stacks up. Bit puzzled by that.

Pryce I'm surprised wouldn't be at camp but he was sat most of the stretch run/playoffs. Only 7D invited which is also a bit weird. Think you'd want more for practice, scrimmages & the pre season games.

Even Karsen Chartier our 5th RD pick in net. Why not have him at camp to experience it & maybe learn some things from a guy like Gaudreau.

Talking to Genslive he says it's just guys signed on the rosters. So maybe (hopefully) Cooksey, Degelas will still be there. Like I said tho I think Cooksey might be going the school route.

Still notable Vogelsberg, Pryce aren't unless the O made a mistake.

I wouldn't be surprised if they got Pryce missed a bunch of time and Voglesberg didn't do much two guys I'm hoping to see is David Green and Lukas Fischer

Fischer wasn't taken in the USHL draft still not signed anywhere tho as for Voglesberg and Pryce they aren't listed as being with the Sting for this season on elite prospects

If Pryce is gone then we only have 7 Dmen so that would probably mean we see Green or Fischer signed out of camp or maybe someone comes over but I doubt it

I am sure its a mistake and accidental omission by OHL or staff completing pre season rosters.

Definitely be interesting to see who's all there. I'm not getting my hopes up for Moldenhauer. Especially after Seca said they dealt Dann in part so certain guys could play more.

Excited to see a lot of the guys. See who's improved. See if anyone's really improved. See how the rookies, imports look.

Pretty good! I'd probably have MacDonell, Lantz swapped, same with Martone/McIntyre, but who knows what they'll do with the lines.

Letang has a lot more options than last yr throughout the entire lineup which I'm sure he's excited about.

Also props to u for doing this on every board. Probably took forever. Even if there's 1 or 2 mistakes it gives ppl a good idea of what other rosters looks like around the league.

Looks like Cooksey will be at camp. Very happy with that. I have no clue if his game will translate but he's one of the players I am most excited to see.

He has some interest so Sarnia would be smart to sign him up if he impresses early on.

They should be announcing their camp schedule any day now. Fans are allowed to attend the scrimmages as well.

I'd just ignore that roster on the website/app. Erie put out their camp roster & it's like 60 players. It's just guys who are signed not all who will be at camp.

Probably just a typo to take Grover off. Especially since he's signed & we have no clear cut backup.
