^^^^^This right here! I watched majority of training camp and was shocked that they did not keep him over a couple of the incumbents. GW has only been here for a year but it seems he prefers the older stereotype D men, big and slow and somewhat physical for some reason, as opposed to new era puck moving join the rush D that I feel would compliment more of what should be a high powered offense in OS this year. Young will make your line up.
I like the confidence you have in our new kid. GW has always been a member of the old boys club so your analogy is likely accurate.

Let's see what he does over the next "few weeks" as Seca puts it. I just don't trust that we have enough goals up front to offload Burke and Hill. I get that we can trade for someone, but one might not be enough.

Solid work from Seca though. Even with Dillingham we lack depth in case of an injury. Plus next year we lose our two OAs + Mast presumably. So he gets a guy who from all accounts could probably play now in a depth role & has all the tools to become a top-4 guy as he matures for a 6th round pick (if he plays)

What a silly good pass by Vilmanis. He also had a nice goal driving down the wing. He's gonna be such a beast. Boston fans are talking up Mast so far in their first game. Burke 2 points yesterday.

Namestnikov plays tonight as does Voit.

Oh my lord. This kid is absolutely sick. I need to see him with Voit

Once he gets fully adjusted.. watch out. We haven't had a power forward like him in a long ass time.

I'm good if he's with Voit or if they pair him on line 2 w/Namestnikov & Sikic & try to get two high-level scoring lines with the B6 having Martone, MacDonell, Wainwright, Doucette, McIntyre & Lantz or Filak. I truly don't think scoring will be an issue for us.

Especially with Ritchie, Mast, Daviault on the backend who should all put up 30+. The first two easily.

Jr. A and Jr. B seasons have started around Ontario. Here are where the 2022 Sting draft picks are playing this year:

Carson Hall (4th RD): Lindsay Muskies/OJHL
David Green (5th RD): St. Michael's Buzzers/OJHL
Nathan Omeri (8th RD): Hamilton Kitty B's/GOJHL
Cameron Fries (9th RD): Cambridge Redhawks/GOJHL

With a shoot first mentality a bit more often Voit will push for 40 goals this year. Had 26 last year & he was the primary focus for every team. Could tell he put some work into it at the scrimmages.

Think we sometimes forget just how God damn good & important Voit was for us last year. He was near the top of the CHL for primary Assists on a team with very little true scorers. Got switched from wing to centre & got put on the PK. He put the team on his back quite a few times.

Such a treat to watch him play. If he was a few inches taller he'd be an absolute star & have a great NHL career upcoming. Gonna be a battle for him but hopefully he makes it one day. Can not wait to see him this season surrounded by more talent & size.

Seca on the addition. Says it's incorrect that it becomes a 6th. Young will be in for practice in the coming days & they will see where he is at.

Seems like unless he really wows them he'll probably be elsewhere to start & be a call up if they need a D for this season.

With the hands exhibited to stick handle in that telephone booth and then drop the back pass forward? That's not a talent you see many power forwards possessing. Very, very excited to see this guy play.

OS Fans liked him. OS management liked him. Sting scouts like him a lot. The more I read about Young the more I love this trade! Gotta see him play obviously, but he had a pretty stellar 16 yr old season. Especially for a mid round selection.

I was excited til I saw the Romeo comparison lol
Not hard to imagine y he (Romeo) had solid numbers in Jr B haha. Huge kid who can skate well. Would've been such a mismatch at times.

All 3 guys he mentioned are drafted tho & Young out produced them by nearly double. Doesn't mean he'll be better but it definitely grabs your attention. Hopefully plays in the pre season game Saturday.

Not that any of these are a big surprise but nice to see the analytics/data backup our hope with Daviault, Filak, MacDonell, Wainwright.

Filak will definitely be one of the more interesting players to watch on the team. Could be a real under the radar X-factor especially if as he said, Filak gets more ice time.

Did I read that correctly? Chandler Romeo invited to Ottawa Senators main training camp?
Just...wow...so many strange and confusing feelings.
Good for him, I hope he has a great season for the Sting with a lot less lazy penalties after giveaways.

They have to make a decision on whether to sign him or not, so makes sense that they'd invite him to camp

Anyway you slice it it'll be good for Romeo. Get to learn from NHLers, get some pointers from pro coaches. Liked what I saw in camp, pre season game, but still does some things that scare you lol. Hopefully Ottawa can help iron those things out.

It'll be interesting to see how long they run with the 4 OAs. Personally hope they trade whoever they view as the 4th as soon as possible. Don't like when you have 4or5 & each night a new one is in. Hard to create chemistry, continuity doing that.

Obviously a super skilled stud on the ice but word is his issue is off the ice.Needs to clean that up if he wants a chance at the next level.

Ryan mast makes Boston’s main camp. Both him and Romeo will be early cuts from their pro main camps, but good for them, hopefully they learn from other pros and the coaches develop them abit. Mast should definitely be watching Brandon Carlo and taking notes.

If I'm Mast I'm going out of my way to try & run into Chara who retired in Boston today. Mast plays NOTHING like him but Chara mastered how to defend without great footspeed even in today's game.

Can only imagine what he'd learn in just 5 minutes of speaking to him.

Gaudreau also to main camp with SJS. As is Vilmanis. So much for them all being back this weekend 😂. Sucks for us from a chemistry standpoint, but it'll be great for them to learn from the pros.

Ya sucks for our team now, but each player and our team will benefit from this later in the year.
