I would've figured Gaudreau, Voit, Mast as Signed prospects would maybe get invited to main camp just for the experience, but Seca said he expects the full team back next weekend vs WSR.

I'm more worried Ritchie performs really well & BUF signs him to the AHL lol. Be an absolute disaster for us. Obviously want him to go pro but after this season.. Haha.
dont think you need to worry tbh

I think they will all be back, most main camps are filled with roster players, AHL/ECHL guys and top end elite prospects that have a shot at making the team. Gaudreau, mast and Voit have no shot at making the NHL. No point in keeping them around, let them play in the prospect tournament develop them abit and send them back to junior.

I wasn't super worried but we've been screwed before by guys who clearly weren't pro ready (Rymsha, Pezzetta,) being signed as 20 yr olds then going pro.

Luckily wasn't in a go for it year like it is this yr but still hurt getting some assets back.

Thoughts on keeping both Burke and Hill and trading Dillingham instead?

Tough one imo. I really like what I see from Hill early. Burke just needs Voit and he will continue where he left off last season. Does not look like the current roster is changing too much from what we see now. We can't lose Dann's 40 and Burke/Hill 25-40 then add nothing back up front. Ya Vilmanis is probably going to score 35-40 because he's already making other prospects look silly at the Florida camp, I think he's going to be way better then we all thought. That being said, I don't think guys like Sikic and Namestnikov are going to get close enough to the goal totals we need them to be at. I hope I am wrong.

On D I also don't think we can really let Dilly go either. It would be putting a lot of stock into guys like Romeo and MacDonald to take an extra few steps forward. Not sure if they will progress as quick as we would need them to. Potential is there.

Keep Dann and it would of made getting rid of burke or hill a lot easier. Still confused by the deal.

I personally would not trade Dllingham for a few reasons. Number one being the defence would take a massive blow. While not flashy, Dillingham is a rock in every sense of the word. He's our captain, the most physical guy on the team & a really solid defensive defenceman. You need D like him come the playoffs. Especially with who the other best teams are probably gonna be (Flint, Owen Sound, Kitchener, Guelph, Windsor)

Number two would be if you take him out our defence becomes Mast, Ritchie, Daviault, Romeo, MacDonald, Campbell. Two guys going into yr 2 & 1 his first. That's to much inexperience for what we wanna be. We'd also be putting all of our chips in on Romeo being a stable, consistent top-4 Dman. I'm not ready to do that. They also have no depth behind Campbell so trading Dillingham would only make that worse. They'd be screwed if anyone got hurt, sick.

I like Hill, he works his but off & skates great. But if not for an absurd hot stretch where he had 20 points in 10 games (9 of which came in 2 games lol) he had 33 points in 57 games, 33 in 63 if you count playoffs where he was a complete ghost (0 points, -6). He doesn't shoot (only 181 shots in 180 career games) & he's a solid passer but nothing special. He's realistically a 3rd line centre you use as a checker, 2way, PK guy & I'd prefer Dillingham who may play top-pair, top PK, end of game situations, etc.

He & Burke are similar players with effort, down low play, 2way play, PK guys the differences are Hill is a better skater & commits to that stuff a bit more with it being his role while Burke is a better scorer & a bit more creative offensively which is why for this team I value Burke more. MacDonell, Filak, Lantz all can make up for what u lose with Hill. Wainwright as well to a lesser extent.

We lost Dann's 30 with upside of 40 & in my scenario Hill's 20-25, but replace it with natural progression of Namestnikov, Sikic, MacDonell, Wainwright, Filak + Vilmanis, Lantz & Martone. This team will absolutely, positively score more than last years team & it won't be close. I like Hill, but for me this is an easy decision. As for the Dann trade I am fully on board with they did it because they knew the roster as constructed wasn't gonna succeed in the playoffs. I mentioned it when we made it none of the final-8 teams last yr had more than 1or2 sub 5'10 players. We had Dann, Voit, MacDonell, Namestnikov just in the T9 so one had to go. Obviously not Voit, Namestnikov would make no sense & MacDonell also would make little sense unless u were doing a massive trade but those don't happen in the summer. So it left Dann, unfortunately. They also probably wouldn't of gotten two 2nds, 5th for Hill & Burke combined. Now they have enough picks to go big game hunting (Shane Wright, Wyatt Johnston) at the deadline with those picks + Thornton's.

Apologies for the novel lol.

The conditional 12th rd. pick turns into a 6th rd. pick if he plays a game. Sting site didn't mention that condition, but the Attack site does.

Not saying this is a good or bad thing, I have no knowledge of the player. He might be a total steal (like Ethan Ritchie). It just seems a bit questionable to leave that information out of the Sting article.

This is simply a deal to give a kid an opportunity to play for both the Attack, Sting, and Young.

From an Owen Sound point DD has always give these kids the opportunity to excel in the OHL whether it be in OS or somewhere else. In this case that is exactly what happens Young gets a chance to play in the OHL.

To be clear: That wasn't meant to be a knock on the kid at all, OS can scout talent very well.
I just found it fishy that the Sting left out the condition details ... why?

Well most of the times Conditional Picks are subject to interpretation and in this case the kids wasn't signed to the Attack and his rights were traded. Long in the short of it if the Sting sign Young and he plays 1 game in a Sting uniform the pick will change to a 6th rounder in the same draft year, and If not then it stays a 12th.

Most Conditional Picks are connected to games played or playoffs rounds met depending on the kids production in the league and his profile contributing to a team's success.

Hopefully Young will get an opportunity to play for the Sting and show what he can do as there was very little room in OS depth chart this season.

Hes going to be very good, any other year he makes the Attack. This year they just are very deep.
We are pretty deep ourselves on D. 6 returning D + a promising 3rd Round Pick. They'd have to think very highly of him to be a regular on this year's team.

Or, maybe Seca is on the hf board & saw @Ferda11 idea yesterday & is gonna trade Dillingham so they got a D in advance! Haha.

I believe OS could have found him a spot on that back end especially since he is an offensive dman and 05. They may regret not moving some of their avg dmen they have. JMO

Maybe, I would be very shocked if the top 6 they have now is the top 6 in April. They probably will bring in 1/2 more impactful players.

^^^^^This right here! I watched majority of training camp and was shocked that they did not keep him over a couple of the incumbents. GW has only been here for a year but it seems he prefers the older stereotype D men, big and slow and somewhat physical for some reason, as opposed to new era puck moving join the rush D that I feel would compliment more of what should be a high powered offense in OS this year. Young will make your line up.
