I didn't realize pre season tickets being free for STH wasn't an every team thing in the OHL. I still think Sarnia does a pretty shit job rewarding fans for getting them especially the OGs but I appreciate them doing that. Its absolutely absurd some of the prices im seeing for pre season games around the league.

Unfortunate. Figured when he wasn't on the main camp roster it was for this reason. Ton of skill but has things to work on & we are really deep at F. Wouldn't of played T9 minutes this year.
u18 draft guys are u18 draft guys for a reason most of the time. great to be excited but most of the time they just are not ready.

Can anyone give me any insight about Easton Wainwright? Can’t find any information about him online.

Sarnia drafted him in the 9th round in the 2021 draft. He spent a majority of his 16 yr old season playing for Brantford in the OJHL where he had a terrific season tallying 28 Goals & 23 Assists in 51 games. He spent some time up with Sarnia where he impressed & got 7 goals & 4 assists in 29 games in a limited role.

So far in training camp he's been very impressive. As for his style, he's smaller player but is very speedy centre who sees the ice well & has shown a nice scoring touch around the net. I think on a worse team he'd have a breakout season but Sarnia looks to contend this season so he may have a limited role once again as a 17 year old.

Sarnia signs Tyson Doucette & Nick Surzycia. Clearly like me they love what they've seen from Doucette. If he can be a solid 4th liner it'll make us an even deeper team up front. He helps our already strong team speed as well. Imagine we see Lalkin dealt soon. No point in keeping him as the 13th forward.

Bit surprised they signed Surzycia but they needed a 3rd goalie signed so it makes sense on that front. Who knows though, maybe they think he has a shot to beat out Grover for the backup spot from what they've seen. In the scrimmages I thought Grover distanced himself as the clear #2.

Does anyone know when players leave for camps? Will the full team be around for the two games this weekend?

I just assumed every team signs 3 goalies. What if you sign 2 & need to call up your #3 during the season & you can't get him to Sarnia for whatever reason ?

If you guys would like Bloom come January, we’d gladly give him ice time.

Yah never know! Haha. Though I think if Sarnia adds a F it'll be a high-end centre, but you never know if they fully go all-in & add two Fs then Bloom would definitely be an intriguing option.

You don’t wanna send Bloom all the way to Sarnia and an entirely different country. Just send him a little bit south. It’d be great to watch him score 20 shorties this year in orange and blue.

Guys who are playing in rookie tournaments:

Lantz - Detroit, SEP 15th - SEP 19th.
Hill - St. Louis, SEP 15th - SEP 19th.
Voit - Toronto, SEP 15h - SEP 19th (though he may go to Leafs camp after)
Gaudreau - SJ Sharks, SEP 16th - SEP 19th (also may go to camp after)
Vilmanis - Florida, SEP 16th - SEP 19th

Other than that I'm not sure what camps are other players were invited too & Ottawa (Romeo), Boston (Mast) aren't participating in a tournament from what I've gathered. Our next set of games are vs Windsor on the 23rd & 24th before we start on the 30th.

If Voit, Gaudreau, Mast go to main camp there'd definitely be a chance they'll miss opening weekend which would suck for us. Playing 2 solid teams in KIT & WSR though they could be missing guys too.

Where's the dislike button when ya need one! Hahaha. Yall's forwards look pretty stacked so adding him would be killer. Imagine you'll try & add a Dman & potentially a goalie depending on how Cranley performs.

Yeah. For sure. I imagine those will be the necessities for Flint and hopefully they have a luxury add too. With your roster and Gaudreau in net they may need that luxury add if they run into the Sting in the post season. I thought Sarnia and Erie were the two teams that were a bit better than their record indicated last year and won’t be shocked to see the Sting in the battle for the West this year.

Sarnia *should've* been battling for the 6th spot with Guelph. They played the top teams (FLT, WSR, LDN, SSM) extremely tough. Had a better record vs them then KIT, ER, GUE, OS. There immaturity, inexperience really showed at times. Which was to be expected but was still frustrating.

Expectation & Hope is to be a contender. But that's all they are right now, expectations. Gotta see it on the ice & no team knows those can be two totally different things better than the Sting

Seca in the observer says-

"We want a competitive group. I feel like I keep saying the same thing, but that's a reality. Who can fill certain roles that's going to help the team win games each & every night" (Feel like the last part only reinforces that Lalkin will be shipped out)

On Doucette- "We see him as a real versatile player. He's got real good speed, he's an energetic player, He's a hard worker. We see him contributing in all areas. Probably play on the penalty-kill & be a guy who can play up the lineup should we need him to. The versatility is what we were really most intrigued with"

On Surzcyia- "Nick came into camp, right away you could tell he was ready to be in & around our group. If he doesn't make the club he'll play locally (Strathroy Jr. B), but that's only if he doesn't make the team over the next two or three weeks." All three goalies are expected to play this weekend vs London.

You can tell with every media piece Seca, Letang have done there is a certain standard these guys are gonna be held too this season. Certain things clearly bothered them a great deal last season & they don't wanna see it again. Can feel a real sense of urgency from them. Hopefully, that results in a strong start come the end of the month. Some real good teams in the conference & points will be important. Even early on getting points will be big because our schedule is MUCH easier in the 2nd half than the first half.

They used a rather unfortunate picture of those two in the media release.

As others have said, I thought Doucette earned his spot. He really stood out in the black and white game, and not only because of the yellow mitts and bucket. Granted there were very different compete levels between the vets and bubble players. I'm anxious to see if he can be that intense with checking line minutes. A PK with him and Angus up front will be fun to watch.

Surzcyia stood on his head when he was thrown into action last season (part of one game). So the sample size is extremely small, but the kid had a zero stat line. When Benny gets a World Junior nod (fingers crossed for him) we're going to need a lot more of that from the BUG, if needed. No pressure Nick.

For those wanting to watch the game tonight it'll be streamed on YouTube.

Heading to the game tonight. Luckily found someone online that was selling a cheap ticket. People around here really be trying to sell exhibition tickets for $40 a piece lmao.

I'll be sitting pretty tonight so I will try and poke in throughout and after the game if anything is worth mentioning. Looking forward to seeing the new guys.

Absurd. Haha. Enjoy it! I'll be missing the game unfortunately. Hoping they keep the game up on their YouTube channel & don't take it down once the game ends.

Doherty, Doucette, Martone, Campbell, Harper, Lalkin all in. Good mix of vets on ice for warm ups. Mast, Romeo, Ritchie & Hill. Grover and Surzycia for tenders.
